Before you begin…

·  Make sure you have Anti Virus software installed on your computer e.g. McAfee, Norton 360, Microsoft Security Essentials

·  Remove McAfee Site Advisor software if you have it installed, it will stop Passport from working.

Step 1 - Check if you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7

1.  Click Start, right-click Computer then click Properties

2.  In the System section look for System Type where it will either say 32-bit or 64-bit, make a note of this

3.  Close the window using the cross (X) in the top right corner.

Step 2 - Check if you are an administrator on the computer

1.  Click Start and then Control Panel

2.  Click on User accounts

3.  Check the blue box on the right for Administrator, if you see this you have the necessary access close the window and go to the step 3 to remove any existing passport software.
If you see the word Standard, click on Change account type and select Administrator (you will need to log off and back on again to update this change on your computer).

Step 3 - Remove any existing Passport software

1.  Click Start then Control Panel

2.  Click on Programs and Features

3.  Find and remove all versions of Java, Juniper and Citrix, by clicking on the relevant programs in the list then clicking on Uninstall or Uninstall/Change (click Yes when asked Are you sure…).

Step 4 - Run the Registery Cleaner

1.  Open Firefox and copy and paste http://hants.gov.uk/passport-tools/regcleaner.exe in the address field, hit the Enter key on your keyboard

2.  Click on Save File

3.  Click on the download arrow in the top right corner

4.  Click Run

5.  Click Yes and then Yes again to the next two messages

6.  Click Yes to confirm that the Citrix Cleaner can continue

7.  The Citrix Cleaner will confirm that the Citrix registery has been cleaned successfully, click OK

8.  Close all programs and restart your computer.

If you find that you are unable to remove the Citrix folder using the Registery Cleaner, you can also do this from your C drive.

1.  Click Start, then click Computer

2.  Double click on Local Disk (C:)

3.  Click on Program Files

4.  Right-click on Citrix folder then click Delete

5.  Click Yes.

If this also doesn’t work for you, you can download Citrix Receiver Clean-Up Utility from http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX137494 (clicking the Download button and save by right-clicking on the file, then on Run as Administrator).

Step 5 – Update Firefox settings

Firefox will block older versions of Java – before you update Firefox settings you must remove Java if you haven’t already, you will re-install it after you have updated Firefox settings.

1.  Open Firefox, click on the orange Firefox menu in the top left corner, then click on Options and then Options again

2.  An Options window will open, click the Content tab and then click Exceptions

3.  An Allowed Sites – Pop-ups window will open, copy and paste *.hants.gov.uk into the Address of website field, then click Allow

4.  The address will move into the field below, next copy and paste passport.hants.gov.uk into the Address of website field and click Allow, you should now have two addresses under the Site heading (as shown in the screenshot below), click Close

5.  You will now return to the Options window, click the Security tab then on the Exceptions button next to Warn me when sites try to install add-ons

6.  The Allowed Sites – Add-ons Installation window will be displayed, copy and paste *.hants.gov.uk into the Address of website field and click Allow

7.  The address will move into the field below, next copy and paste passport.hants.gov.uk into the Address of website field and click Allow, the two addresses you have added should now show under the Site heading (as shown in the screenshot below), click Close

8.  Go back to Firefox, copy and paste http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp into the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboard, then click on Free Java Download

9.  Click Agree and Start Free Download then click Save File

10. Click on the arrow in the top right corner of the screen, then click on jxpiinstall.exe to install Java

11. When asked Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer, click Yes

12. The Welcome to Java window will open, click Install

13. If you are asked if you want to also download any other free software, un-tick the box and click Next (see example below)

14. A message will be displayed saying you have successfully installed Java, click on Close

15. You will be taken to a Verify Java Version page, if you see a message regarding the Java (tm) Plug-in SSV helper.., click on Enable, then click on Verify Java version

16. A congratulations message will be displayed when Java has been installed successfully.

Step 6 - Disable Java Deployment Toolkit within Firefox

1.  Open Firefox, click on the menu in the top left corner, then click Add-ons

2.  The Add-ons Manager tab will open, click Plugins

3.  Next to Java Deployment Toolkit, click on the drop down arrow next to Ask to Activate and select Never Activate then close the tab.

Step 7 – Download and install Citrix Receiver for Windows

1.  Open Firefox and copy and paste http://receiver.citrix.com/ into the address bar, hit the Enter key on your keyboard then click Download Receiver for Windows

2.  Read and tick I agree to the terms of the Citrix License Agreement, then click Continue

3.  Click Save File

4.  Click on the arrow in the top right corner of the screen then click on CitrixReceiverWeb.exe

5.  When asked Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer, click Yes

6.  A Welcome to Citrix Receiver Setup window will be displayed, click Install

7.  Once installation is complete the Citrix Receiver window will disappear and you should see the Citrix Receiver icon at the bottom of the screen.

Step 8 - Log into Passport (installs Juniper software)

1.  Go to Firefox and copy and paste https://passport.hants.gov.uk into the address bar, hit the Enter key on your keyboard

2.  Type in your Hantsnet username, Hantsnet password, Passport PIN and token number and click Sign In
NB. If this is the first time you have logged into Passport, see the information on Learn.IT (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/learnit.htm – go to Passport > Setting up Passport)

3.  Accept/Run/Install Active X control if prompted

4.  Click Yes to install Host Checker if prompted

5.  Click on the Hantsnet Desktop icon and agree to install Juniper Citrix Services Client

6.  Once your Hantsnet desktop is loaded you may be prompted by a Citrix Receiver Security warning box, if you are, tick Do not ask me again for this site and then click Permit use.

You have now completed the installation process.
