ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Each student on the OB/GYN Clerkship is graded for their individual Oral Presentation on a topic selected by them. A copy of the evaluation form is attached for your information. Although this activity is graded, I wish to reassure you that students have generally performed well in this activity, and I hope that you will view this requirement as a non-threatening experience, and a non-stressful opportunity to review just one topic in greater depth than usual.

Below is a list of suggested topics for OB/GYN medical students. This list covers a large range of subjects and we are confident that you will be able to choose a topic that is of interest to you.

You will be scheduled to present your topic to your fellow students and one faculty member for evaluation, but you are encouraged to share your review, informally, with the residents as well. The presentation should be scheduled to run approximately 15 minutes with 10-12 Power Point slides. You must prepare a handout.

The goal of the oral presentation is to learn a general topic in OB/GYN, share your learning with your classmates and have the experience of presenting formally.

If you happen to be on outpatient service the day of oral presentations, you are required to attend oral presentations. Unfortunately, you will have to forfeit the outpatient service for that day.

Please discuss with Dr. Gussman or Dr. Baum if you are not sure about the topic of your presentation.
