JOB TITLE:Dementia Centre-Care Assistant

BASE:The Poppy Centre, 179 Townsend Lane, Clubmoor, Liverpool L13 9DY

HOURS:8am to 6pm (Weekdays – number of days by agreement)

SALARY: £7.50per hour if aged over 25

£7.05 per hour if aged under 25

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To assist in the care of the people living with dementia who use the Poppy Centre Day Care Facilities.

The Poppy Centre is an integral part of a network of services provided by Age Concern Liverpool & Seftonandallstaffareexpectedtoparticipateinandbenefitfrom other Age Concern Liverpool & Seftonactivities.

The Care Assistant is accountable to the Nurse in Charge to ensure that each customerhas an enjoyable experience that promotes their dignity and retention of capabilities.

Tohelpin meetingthepersonalcare and support needsof customers in a way that respects dignity and promotes independence both in the centre and on outings.

  1. To assisteach customer,asneeded,withdressing,bathing, eating, toileting, mobilising, and getting into and out of transport.
  1. To promote the independence and happiness of customers throughvaried activities including reading, crafts, gardening, singing, talking and outings.
  1. To assist,inallaspectsofthe practical daytodayrunningofthe centre including cleaning, laundry, serving of meals etc.
  1. To produce a daily diary for each customer that you have key worker responsibility for detailing what they have done and any achievements or issues encountered.
  1. To liaise withprofessionals, carers, volunteers,guardiansandadvocatesto ensure the welfare of all customers.
  1. To be required to help maintain accurate records on each customer.
  1. To actively participateinstaffmeetings, customer meetingsand undertake training as directed.
  1. Toreportanyissuessuchasfalls,instancesof customerspossibly being atriskfrom other customers andinstances of aggression directly tothe Nurse in Charge or in her absence another Senior Manager from Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton.
  1. Tofollowall of the organisations policiesand procedures both generic and specific to the dementia day care service.
  1. To read all communication, hard copies and electronic, as requested.
  1. To carry out any other duties asrequired bythe Nurse in Charge or the Chief Executive of Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton.
