2018VGCI Convention Registration Form

October 4-6, 2018

The 20thAnnual VGCI Convention will be held in Toledo, Ohio, October 4,5 & 6, 2018. The site of the convention will be the Radisson at the University of Toledo, 3100 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, 43614. Hotel reservations can be made online by visiting select Toledo, select your dates, and enter the code VASE to get our discounted room rate of $109 for a double or king room. Or, you can call the hotel directly at 1-419-381-6800 and mention Vaseline Glass Collectors to get our discounted room rate. These room rates will be honored October 1-7, 2018. Make your reservation as soon as possible but definitely by September 19, 2018, the last date these ratesare guaranteed. Displays: There will be $100 awards for displays again this year for Best Single Piece, Best Theme, Most Educational, and Best Visual. Each category will receive an award. Please consider setting up a display. We have plenty of room and everyone wants to see your favorite pieces!

Swap & Shop: One of best chances you will get to buy or sell glass, Swap & Shop is also a great way to meet fellow Club members and perhaps find a piece for your collection that you may not find anywhere else. Swap & Shop is conducted from room to room. Participating rooms may list their room number on the easel at our registration table.

Meals:Four meals are included in the cost of your registration fee. The times for each meal will be printed in your Welcome Packet that you will receive on hotel arrival. There is no discount on convention fees if you decide not to participate in any or all of the meals.

Optional Tour: Plan to arrive in Toledo on Wednesday, October 3rd, so you don’t miss a fabulous bus trip to the Tiffin Glass Museum (Tiffin, OH), the Glass Heritage Gallery (Fostoria, OH), and the Hancock Historical Museum (Findlay, OH) on Thursday, October 4th. The bus will make a lunch stop (on your own) during the trip. For just $49/person we would love to have you join us. This is a chartered motor coach trip available on a first come first served basis. The cost includes a round-trip motor coach ride and admission to the museums. The bus will depart at 9:00a.m. and return at 5:00 p.m.

Toledo Museum of Art and Glass Pavilion: Included in your registration fee is a round-trip motor coach ride and admission to the Toledo Museum of Art and Glass Pavilion on Friday, October 5th. In addition, we are planning two additional stops that day at the First Congregational Church of Toledo to view 16 Tiffany stained glass windows and the Blair Museum of Lithophanes. The bus will depart at 10:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m.

Silent Auction: Here is an opportunity for members to make tax deductible donations of glass for auction to benefit the Club. If you want to place a piece in the auction but do not wish to donate the proceeds to the Club, VGCI will require 20% of the final auction price as a fee. Auction sheets will be available where auction items are displayed. If you cannot attend but would like to donate or if you are flying and prefer to ship your auction (or display) items, the hotel will receive packages shipped directly to them with the understanding that they cannot be held liable for anything detrimental that could occur. Convention Piece: We are pleased to be offering as a convention piece an owlpaperweight to go with our Fall theme and our “Who Glows There” slogan made by Club Member, Jack Loranger. The cost will be $30 per owl. The owl will be available for pickup at convention. If you cannot attend but would still like to make a purchase, please send this registration form to Tom Foozer along with a check for the amount owed plus shipping payable to VGCI. Orders will be filled with priority to convention attendees and then to non-attendees based on envelope postmark.

The Dirty Santa Game: The Dirty Santa Game has become a tradition at convention organized and run by Club Member, Nancy Hillman. If you would like to participate, please bring a wrapped gift for exchange. The gift should be either Vaseline glass or a bottle of wine with a value around $20. If you don’t bring a gift, there are always plenty to purchase during Swap Shop. Observers are always welcome too!

Fun! The true measure of success of any convention is how much you enjoyed yourself. YOUare the key ingredient in making this happen! Join us as we celebrate our 20thAnnual Convention of friends, fun, food, and Vaseline Glass!

Cancellation Policy: In the unfortunate event that you must cancel, please notify us by September 19, 2018. Funds will be returned less a $15 processing fee. Any cancellations after September 19, 2018, will be forfeited to VGCI as a tax deductible contribution.

Transportation: The area is serviced by the Toledo Express Airport (TOL). The Radisson has arranged to run their shuttles for our group to and from the Toledo Express Airport. It is not a regularly scheduled run and you must contact the hotel at least a week in advanceto arrange for a ride so they have time to schedule a driver. They will need your arrival and departure information. Cost will be $10 (plus tip) each way. Monday-Friday shuttle hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Plan accordingly when you make your airline reservations. There are also taxi cabs available. The fare is approximately $35. If you are driving, parking is free at the hotel.

Registration Fees: The cost of registration includes our Thursday evening “Who Glows There”reception, meals, speakers, a round-trip motor coach ride on Friday to the Toledo Museum of Art and Glass Pavilion plus two other stops, and museum admissions. There is no reduction in the fee if you plan on attending only part of the convention. All fees are per person.
