Seniors: Welding Session for students 18 or over will be offered at Tri Star Career Compact, Dennings Building in St. Mary’s from Monday-Thursday beginning Feb. 23-mid April from 6-9. Juniors:

Buckeye Boys State & Buckeye Girls State will take place in June. Our local American Legions will pay for you to attend either of these events. They give students an opportunity to experience government first hand. www.boysandgirlsstate.org See Mrs. McConahay for information by Feb. 10.

Sophomores:

On Feb. 4, all sophomores will visit Vantage Career Center to increase awareness of the educational opportunities available there for juniors and seniors. Parents & students interested in attending Vantage next fall should plan to attend the Open House on Monday, Feb. 9 between 5-7:30 p.m. Applications to attend Vantage next fall will be due by March 2nd for priority acceptance.

Veterinary Exploration Conference will be held on Feb. 21 at Hyatt Regency in Columbus from 9:30-4:00 for high school juniors, seniors, and parents. Exposes students to available careers in veterinary medicine. $10 registration/student and $20/parent covers program materials and lunch. Seniors - Help with FAFSAs: FAFSA forms should be completed by Feb. 15 to be eligible for the most money available. Help will be provided at Wright State University-Lake Campus for seniors attending any post-secondary institution. The FAFSA workshops will be provided on Feb. 3 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and on Feb. 12 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Seat are limited, register ahead by calling 419-586-0232.

§  Feb. 10: Celina Insurance Group & Associates Scholarship will award $1,000 to a senior residing in Auglaize or Mercer County or a child/grandchild of a current Celina Insurance Group employee. You must be pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree applicable to the insurance industry. Application in guidance office.

§  Feb. 14: Mercer Co. Right to Life “Pro-Life Oratory Contest” Application in guidance office.

§  Feb. 15: Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has Ohio and National scholarships available. Applications in Guidance Office or online at www.ohiodar.org and www.dar.org Based on academic excellence and financial need.

§  Feb. 15: WACE Co-op Scholarship Program will award 160 merit scholarships. You must have 3.5 or better GPA & be accepted at one of the partner institutions – University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, Drexel, Johnson & Wales, & more. Go to www.waceinc.org for more info.

§  Feb. 27: Buick Achievers offers scholarships to students majoring in engineering, technology, design or business with an interest in the automotive industry. Up to $25,000/year, apply at www.buickachievers.com

§  Feb. 27: Midmark Corp. is offering one Technical Scholarship to a senior from neighboring counties for $20,000 along with summer employment opportunities and a full time job after completion of degree. Application in guidance office or go to midmark.com/careers for more information.

§  Feb. 28: MED Foundation Scholarship – one student selected from each Mercer Co. school, ACT 25 or higher and entering a health care profession. Application in guidance office.

§  March 2: Wabash Mutual Telephone scholarships up to $3,000. You must be a child or legal ward of a Wabash Mutual Telephone member. Email for an application & to verify membership with Wabash Mutual Telephone.

§  March 2: Creative Writing Contest by Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, “If I were Principal for a Day”. Go to www.clevelandfed.org/learning_center for more information. Grades 11 & 12.

§  March 10: James Kura Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers will award 3 $1,000 scholarships. Application at www.oacdl.org/scholarship

§  March 15: West Central Ohio Safety Council has a $1,000 award for a student pursuing a career in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene Environmental Science, Risk Management, Health & Wellness or a related field. Must have a 3.0 Cumulative GPA or higher. Application in guidance office.

§  March 31: Ohio Oil & Gas Energy will award $1,000 renewable scholarship to a student with a career goal in the crude oil and natural gas industry or related energy field. Application at www.oogeep.org

§  March 31: South Shore Sportsman’s Club will offer two $500 scholarships to students pursuing a field in conservation and/or wildlife management, or fields related to those vocations. Application in guidance office

§  March 31: University Women’s Club of Mercer County will award one $1,000 grant and several $700 interest-free loans to deserving young women. Application in Guidance Office.

§  April 1: Lake Improvement Association will award a $3,000 scholarship to a student who develops an improvement project for Grand Lake St. Marys. Project needs to be completed by August 1. §  April 6: William D. Squires Educational Foundation will award 15 $3,000 renewable scholarships to students with an Expected Family Contribution on FAFSA Student Aid Report of less than $8,000; must know your career goal, be highly motivated and have good character, minimum 3.20 cum. §  April 9: Gordon Orthodontics will give one $1,000 scholarship to a past or present patient, 3.5 GPA, 24 ACT. Application in Guidance Office.
