Problems A Brewing

INTRODUCTION:

As all of the colonies develop and grow into more self-sufficient units some ideas and things start to change. A division between the people in the colonies and the people in England starts to grow.

The Following are FOUR major items that pushed the colonies further away from England and closer to the on-coming of the Revolutionary War:

-The Proclamation Line of 1763

-The Sugar Act

-The Quartering Act

-The Stamp Act

Within this project we are going to describe how each of these things furthered the separation between the colonies and England and what issues developed concerning them.

FORMAT:

The class will be broken up into FOUR PRE-DETERMINED groups. Each group will be assigned one of the acts by the teacher.

Task 1:

Each group will have to answer the following questions by gathering information and data:

1-Who created your Act or topic? Why or what was the reason for its creation?

2-What actually happened during and because of your Act or topic? Was it the expected outcome by the British? Was it the expected outcome for the colonist?

3-What was the colonial perspective of this Act? How did they feel about and react to it?

4-What was the British perspective on the Act? How did they feel about and react to it?

5-Creative Question- made by the group and approved by the teacher

Each member of the group will be responsible for researching and answering one of the questions. You then must share your finding with your other group members so that the whole group understands all FOUR questions very well.

Task 2:

As a group, create a study tool or presentation tool to help you to present all the information on your Act/topic.

Examples or Suggestions:

-word- fill-ins

-boxed graphic organizers

-Inspiration maps

-other ideas welcomed

Make sure your presentation tool includes ALL of the information for each of the FOUR questions that you had to research and answer. The document will be shared with the class through Google Docs

Task 3:

Presentation days…Two groups will go a day and all aspects of the TOPIC/ACT will be explained to the class. For the presentation a Google Slides should be made to go along with the study tool the group has made and to organize the groups actual presentation. ALL GROUP MEMBERS must take part in the presentation process.
