Career Development Module 4: Senior Capstone (major specific)

The Rohrer College of Business has a Center for Professional Development (RCPD) specifically for business students to assist with career planning and professional development. The Center offers workshops, daily drop-in hours, and career programming as well as employer engagement opportunities. In addition to these services, students will complete Career Development Modules embedded within business core coursework. In most cases, freshman will take Module 1 in their Rowan Seminar through the Passport Program, sophomores will take Module 2 in Legal Environment, juniors will take Module 3 in Principles of Finance and seniors will take Module 4 in their major-specific Senior Capstone course.

Module Overview

You will complete one assignment from fourdifferent career-related categories: Explore, Engage, Network and Experience. You will also take a Final Assessment to show proof of items completed. Each item, including the final assessment is worth 1% with a possible total of5% toward your final grade in the course. There will be multiple options for students to complete activities on and off-campus as well as independently. Descriptions of the career quadrants are listed here:

  1. Explore: Learn what you can do with your business major and understand the professional opportunities that it aligns with.
  2. Engage: Enhance professional skillset and personal brand through workshops, events and engaging both on and off-campus to become “career ready”. Students will develop the tools necessary to obtain internships and full-time jobs.
  3. Network: Participate in events and programming designed to help students practice the critical skill of networking and learn how to cultivate and maintain a professional network.
  4. Experience: Gain hands-on experience through various types of experiential learning; shadowing, leadership programs, externships and internships, etc.
  5. Final Assessment: Student will report what activities they completed to receive credit for their career module and faculty will assign between 1 – 5 points/percentage towards their final grade.

Assignment completion will be tracked through an online module that has been built in ProfLink – Students have been automatically enrolled in “RCOB Career Development Module 4”. If this module does not appear on your ProfLinkHomepage, please immediately report to the RCPD team. Students will be REQUIRED to complete a Final Assessment in ProfLinkto verify module items were completedand this will generate a final report that will be sent to your professor at the end of the semester to indicate the number of points that you should receive (up to 5).
