MARCH 14, 2016 LUNCHEON MEETING

The TEXACO RETIREES CLUB of HOUSTON will meet on Monday, MARCH 14, 2015 at the H.E.S.S. Club, 5430 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX. Come join the social hour starting at 11:00 AM with lunch at NOON. Spouses and guests are always welcome.

LUNCHEON MENU: Entrée choices are:1.Almond Crusted Tilapia w/ Sun-dried Tomatoes, Basil & Lemon Butter, and 2.Penne Pasta Arrabiataw/ Baked Parmesan Chicken Breast. Each lunch includes a salad, fresh vegetable, dessert, iced tea and coffee. Anyone with dietary restrictions should advise the secretary with their reservations. Our caterer will try to meet your needs.

MARCHPROGRAM: At our March luncheon meeting we are pleased to have Mr. Erik Eriksson, Chief Legal Officer of the Port of Houston Authority as our keynote speaker. The topics of his presentation are history of the port and the port authority, the relationship of the port and global trade, and the impact of the new Panama Canal expansion.He is responsible for overseeing the Port Authority’s legal, government relations, pilot administration, and records management functions.

AT OUR LASTMEETING: At theDecember 1luncheon meeting, we:

1.Held a join retirees club meeting with the Houston Metropolitan Chapter of the CRA;

2. Gave a $200cash donation to the Houston Food Bank;

3. Elected the board of directors;

4. Enjoyed a festive holiday musical programby entertainer Bill Parish, a single performer. Bill played the acoustic guitar, bass, harmonica, and keyboards. The program was seasonal, upbeat, humorous and very entertaining.

2016 MEMBERS DIRECTORY:The 2016Membership Directory has been prepared and will be distributed at the March meeting. If your information on the meeting notices or in the directory is incomplete or not correct, please advise our secretary, Fred Levert at or 281-265-3071.

2016 MEETING SCHEDULE: Mark your 2016 calendar for the future Texaco Retirees Club meetings. Luncheon meetings are scheduled at the H.E.S.S. Club. Plan to join us at each of the quarterly meetings to enjoy a good meal, a pleasant outing and to share time with former colleagues. Future Meeting Dates: March 14; June 13; September 12; and December 6, 2016

NEW MEMBERS: For new members joining the retirees club for the first time in 2016, we will waive the first year’s dues. Encourage all your Texaco retiree friends to take advantage of this generous CRA dues program.

DOOR PRIZES: At our luncheon meeting we will award door prizes to lucky members drawn at random.

OTHER CRA CLUBS:The MetropolitanHouston Chapter is a chapter of the Chevron Retirees Association, just as we are. We meet jointly with them in December. Information about theirclub and activities can be found on their newsletters page:

CHEVRON HUMANKIND:The Chevron Humankind program provides matching for financial contributions and grants for volunteer time to 501(c) (3) nonprofit organizations supported by U.S. retirees and employees. Participants in the program can request matching funds and volunteer grants for causes of your choice, up to a combined $3,000 annual total. You can: A -Give funds directly to a nonprofit and request a dollar match to that nonprofit, or; B -Request a ‘Grant for Good’ for volunteer service. Volunteer 20 hours for a single nonprofit and request a $500 grant. You can obtain two $500 grants per calendar year for either a single nonprofit or two different organizations. Chevron Humankindhas been a big success and each retiree participant is to be commended for their effort. To claim matching funds, log on to or for assistance call1-866-751-6031. Note:all claims for matching funds must be made on-line.

HOUSTON FOOD BANK: Our Club has a great tradition of caring for others by donating non-perishable food or monetary donations to the Houston Food Bank. At the December meeting a $200 cash donation was made to the Food Bank on behalf of the Retirees Club. Your personal contributions always make a difference. Each $1 contribution results in $25 worth of food to feed the needy in Houston and the surrounding area. And, you can apply to Chevron’s Humankind gift matching program to match your donations of $25 or more. Let’s make our club’s March meeting a successful one and contribute to support hungry Houstonians. Bring your food items or money donations to the luncheon meeting.

LUNCHEON FEES:The luncheon meeting fee is $23 per person. Spouse and guests are welcome. Luncheon reservations must be received by Wednesday, March 9, 2016, as reservations must be guaranteed on March 10. We will hold your check until after the luncheon, and you may cancel your reservation by phone to Fred Levert (281-265-3071) until Wednesday, March 9. Since we guarantee your reservation, we cannot refund your money after Wednesday.

MEMBERSHIP DUES: Club dues are $10/yr and are due January 1 each year. Your dues are paid through the end of 2016. You do not oweany membership dues.
