THREE SANDS ABATE adds TWISTs to UNITY Poker Run

Submitted by: Shannon Hampton

On Sat May 4th Three Sands ABATE (A Brotherhood Aiming Towards Education); a SMRO (State Motorcyclist Rights Organization) is hosting a poker run based on a UNITY concept and with a couple of new twists! We have noticed that even though our biker brotherhood and sisterhood all respect one another and look out for each other, sometimes we still segregate in what activities we participate in.

The concept of this poker run is getting all bikers UNITED in one activity. Three Sands ABATE cordially invites everyone, no matter what type of bike you ride, what organization, club, or other affiliation you represent, and if you are a biker friendly “cager” (all wheels from car clubs to truck drivers), we want you too!

Now, what do we like to do when we get together, well, of course, RIDE, EAT & SHARE STORIES! A great windy roads course has been set and every stop on this ride will have some type of “eats & drinks” with a full meal at the end. You will be able to share what events your group has going on this year as well as what your group believes in, while checking out all the bikes and patches of your fellow riders.

The first twist to this run, your 1st card stop as well as a FREE extra card will be picked up at the sponsors for the event. Honda of Stillwater in its NEW location on Perkins behind Rib Crib, Rainbow Sports in Enid and Sonny Cannon Auto in Blackwell will be ready for riders coming in from out of town as well as those who want to take a jog in the ride out to visit one of these sponsors. In Ponca City, Indigenous Powersports and Ponca City Kawasaki are also awaiting all riders.

We count on our Sponsors to make this type of event possible and encourage you to thank them for their support while you look over their great spring inventory. Each sponsor will have one card for each participant; you may only use 2 cards and no duplicates. You can get these cards at any time on Sat. during their business hours. You may also pick up your sponsor cards on the way to registration at the American Legion Post 14 in Ponca City. Registration is from 10am to Noon.

The second twist, 20% PAYOUT to the group that brings the most participants! You may only represent one group. Independent Riders will be considered a group. With the number of participants we expect to have on this run, there could be a hefty amount of loot for the winning group. What a bonus for spending time with the ones you like to ride with and meeting other groups with the same interest.

Total Payout of 50%: Group Participation (20%), High Hand(15%), 2nd High Hand(10%) and Low Hand (5%)! Cost of the event is $20a person including dinner. Other costs will be kept LOW with T-Shirts and Patches available. A board will be available for you to share your group’s flyers and other information.

For any questions, to pre order shirts or patches, or just to brag on how many you expect to bring so dinner numbers are accurate, contact Shannon Hampton (580) 894-5798 or (580) 763-0562, email . We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones!
