Meeting began at 3:35 p.m. and ended at 4:27 p.m.

Minutes:

Ms. Tidwell opened the meeting with a review of the 2013-14 campus report card and a review of the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP) whereby each table was assigned a page on which to report and add comments regarding the current state of the objectives.

The meeting was then directed to the agenda items.

I.  Direction 1: Safe and Supportive Learning Environments – Mr. Rendon

  1. Campus Safety Update- Mr. Rendon provided an update on campus safety

II.  Direction 2: College and Career Readiness – Mr. Joosse

  1. Career Day Information–Mr. Joosse reported that Career Day will be held on Wednesday, January 28 which is a student early release day. Final plans are being made and a schedule of speakers, events will be delivered to mailboxes
  2. AVID – Ms. Tidwell– Next year we will have the AVID program available to 7th graders

III.  Direction 3: Highly Qualified, Effective Faculty and Staff

  1. EPAC update – L. Martinez distributed a draft copy of the 2015-2016 school calendar
  2. Climate Survey- window will open February 2. Parents, students, teachers will be notified

IV.  Direction 4: Home, School, Community Partnerships – Ms. Luna

  1. Make It Count- Ms. Luna reported that for 2nd 9 weeks, we were at 97% overall. Eighth grade was shy of that at 96%.
  2. Climate Survey – will be rolled out to students next Thursday during Advisory. The importance of the survey will be explained during this time.

V.  Direction 5: Accountability for All – Ms. Tidwell

  1. Spring Benchmark Testing – Ms. Tidwell reported that the 8th grade Reading and 7th grade Writing Benchmark tests have been completed.
  2. Early Release – Wednesday, January 28
  3. Teacher of the Year Nominations – Ms. Luna informed the committee of the selection process. She will create a ballot and voting will be held tomorrow (Thursday, January 22) from 10:00-4:00. Voting closes at 4:00 p.m. , due to the district deadline on Friday. Teachers read a short bio for the following nominees:

  9. Ms. Ruiz – 8th Social Studies
  10. Next meeting – Ms. Tidwell reminded SIT that dress code will be reviewed during next meeting.
