Call to Order and Sign-in / Heather Boeningcalled the meeting to order.
Additions to Agenda / Maggie moved to move Governor’s Task Force Report and Great Start Update to September. Jim motioned to approve, Corey seconded. Motion passed.
Approval of April 9, 2015 and May 7, 2015 / Bill motioned to approved and Jim seconded. Motion passed.
Treasurer's Report / Billreviewed the budget. No concerns.
Great Start Collaborative Update / Moved to September agenda.

  • CTF application
/ Fundraising
  • Quilt fundraiser reviewed. Each Board member asked to sell 30 tickets.
Courts
  • New mandated reporting video put out by DHHS. Maggie emailed to court committee.Will be suggested as alternative to DHHS visit.
  • Allen sent a letter to superintendents to encourage participation in mandated reporters training.
  • The sentencing of a recent child abuse case will take place 9/18 and CAC Board representation is encouraged.
CTF Application
  • CTF application required some small changes which Maggie has completed.

  • Lots of abuse articles lately.
  • There was also a positive article on Allen.
  • PNR had an article on identifying signs and symptoms of abuse.
  • CAC has had 3 TTO articles in past 2 months.
  • CAC ran a thank you as in PNR for Pinwheel Garden participants.
Correspondence
  • Reviewed returned newsletters for address updates.
CTF
  • Maggie and Maureen to do Breakout sessions on Strengthening Families Conference November 2nd and 3rd. Board members invited to conference for ½ price registration.
  • CTF has Direct Service Grants available for skills training (typical grants up to $250,000).
HSCB
  • Maureen presented on strengthening families.
  • Big Brother/Big Sisters needs referrals for littles.
  • Crystal Helms (Dept. of Vet. Affairs) is available to help vets who are homeless or in danger of homelessness.
  • EJMS is closing.
  • DHHS distributed 42 donated bikes to foster youth. Northern Knights donated helmets.
  • SAFE is omitting the work “abuse” form their name, also discontinuing dances and introducing activity nights instead
  • McLaren health class information is now available.
Safe Sleep
  • There is a Safe Sleep forum 9/15/15 in Livonia.
Spring Conference 2016
  • Had first planning meeting. Focus is on find a speaker. Ideas include having Charlie again, supporting families, and brain architecture.
August Events
  • Festival on the Bay 8/14/15

Roundtable / Announcements / Maggie- Scott Kelly at BASES is hosting a conference in October 2015 and would like our help with promotion. Also would like the Board to think about nominees for our annual luncheon.
Corey- State Police will be doing children’s IDs at the Festival by the Bay this Weekend.
Dana- CPS is almost fully staffed.
Heather- The annual Pow Wow is this weekend. Also gave update on recent trail.
