Hours: 1 day per week (7.5hrs) for a maximum of 12 weeks

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

GET SET for Work is a regional youth employability project targeting and training 810 rural/urban young people (16-24 years) who are not in employment, education or training (NEET). The project is delivered across 5 regions of high need – Newry, Mourne & Down District Council; Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon District Council; Fermanagh and Omagh District Council; The Northwest (Derry/Londonderry) and the greater Belfast area.

KEY TARGETS AND OUTCOMES

·  To recruit a minimum of 12 young people aged 16 – 24 years who are not in employment education or training

·  To deliver a GET SET youth employability programme

·  To progress the 12 young people into employment, training, education or structured volunteering

RESPONSIBILITIES

To recruit a minimum of 12 young people using a range of methods:

·  Direct contact with young people through street based, detached youth work

·  Networking with partner organisations, community based youth projects, young adult/peer education groups etc. within the area.

·  Contact with Jobs and Benefits Offices

·  Information/induction sessions

·  Social media.

To plan, deliver and evaluate the programme which will build young people’s:

  1. Skills for living - personal action planning with each participants to tackle personal barriers, build motivation, confidence and plan their progression: build young people’s mental health using LIFEMAPS: build young people’s money skills using Money for Life.
  2. Skills for learning - deliver the OCNNI level 1 employability qualification and organise other industry specific training e.g Food Hygiene, CSR card.
  3. Skills for work - organise relevant work experience/taster sessions / volunteering opportunities.

To build relationships with key stakeholders – training organisations, FE colleges, careers service, employers, to identify and create appropriate progression pathways for GET SET participants.

To liaise with the Quality Assurance coordinator (Elaine Lavery) to ensure delivery and assessment of programmes is in line with awarding body requirements and meet IQ;RS ETI quality standards.

To link and liaise with the North West team and with the GET SET project team in the other regions.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

To gather and submit monthly ESF participant monitoring data to project administrator (Elspeth Webb) in line with ESF funding requirements.

To robustly manage and maintain participant details/expense records for monitoring and auditing purposes, following YouthAction’s procedures.

To record, monitor and update on a weekly basis all participant data (details, attendance records, one to one contact, achievements, progression etc) in a course file to meet the data requirements of the funders and the organisation.

To update the project manager on a weekly basis and provide a full written progress report on the programmes to GET SET project manager.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

To maintain administrative systems required to support the work of the project.

To comply with YouthAction Northern Ireland’s financial systems at all times.

GENERAL

To reflect the ethos, policies and practice of YouthAction Northern Ireland at all time (adhering to the youth workers charter) and demonstrate integrity, maturity and good judgement at all times.

To comply with YouthAction NI’s “Protecting Children, young people and young adults – policy & procedures, including good practice guidelines” at all times.

To become familiar with and adhere to YouthAction’s policies and procedures at all times.

TEMPORARY TERMS & CONDITIONS

Hourly rate: £12.00 per hour for JNC qualified or £10.50 for unqualified

Location: Southern Region

Duration: Maximum of 12 weeks

Hours: 7.5 hrs per week.You must be available and able to work evenings, weekends

and on residentials.

Travel: Mileage costs will be paid for travel costs incurred carrying out the duties of the post. This post requires that you have access to a car to facilitate the requirements of the job in a reasonable and effective manner.
