SharePoint 2010 “Value Pillars Demo” Content Pack Installation Instructions
This document provides instructions on how to install theSharePoint 2010 Value Pillars demo. Please note that this content pack takes about 30-40 minutesto install, once you initiate it. Follow-up tasks and some manual setup steps will take an additional 60minutes.
Requirements
This installable package is built on and for the 2010-10a SharePoint 2010 virtual machine. This document assumes that you have already successfully imported that VM environment into a Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V host environment. This document refers to this machine as “the base VM” or “the Contoso server.”
This Content Pack also requires the following 2 prerequisites:“PeoplePack version 5.0.0” and “ECM Resource Pack 3.0.1”.
Please note that all users of this VM environment use the password -pass@word1
Package Installation
- Add the Content Pack:
- Start up Image 2010-10a and wait for it to reach the logon prompt.
- Login as contoso\administrator, using a password of “pass@word1” (no quotes).
- Using the Hyper-V Manager, mount the Content Pack ISO file as the CDROM drive for Image 2010-10a.
- Wait for the Autorun prompt and choose to autorun the content pack installer.
- Wait for the Windows PowerShell window to appear and menu prompt.
- Choose option 1 (Add Content Pack) and the defaults for the Content Pack installer location (if prompted) and Content Pack filename.
- Wait for the installer to finish extracting the files and the menu to reappear.
- Verify Content Pack pre-requisites:
- Choose option 6 (View Installed Packs).
- If you do not see the People and ECM Resource packs installed, locate the ISO file(s) for those content pack installer(s) and install as directed. If you do, go to step 3.
- Install the Content Pack:
- Choose option 2 (Install Content Pack).
- Choose the menu option corresponding to the Value Pillars Demo, accept the defaults for the rest of the prompts.
- The installation process will take 20-40 minutes, and you will not see any feedback indicators other than a flowing progress bar to indicate that work is being done.
- Click the close box in the upper-right corner of the Windows PowerShell dialog to finish the installation.
Post-Installation One-Time Configuration
- At the end of the install sequence, you will be prompted to choose to open the Search Crawl pages and the BCS Permissions page. Click Yes if you want to crawl (or no if you plan to crawl later, in which case only the BCS page will open and not the search pages), then wait for Internet Explorer to open:
- First set permissions on the BCS entity - click the View External Content Types tab in IE, then click Set Metadata Store Permissions in the ribbon, check the box to “Propagate…” and click OK
- To crawl,FIRST click the FASTContent:Manage… tab in IE, then click the drop down on the Fast Contoso scope on the first tab and click StartIncremental Crawl. This should take 10 minutes to finish. Click Refresh until it says Idle.
- THEN, on the FASTQuery:Manage… tab in IE, click the drop down on the Local SharePoint Sites scope and click StartIncremental Crawl. This should take 5-10 minutes to finish. Click Refresh until it says Idle.
- Test search – open IE to 04 – Search, and search for Product Review. You should see documents with thumbnail previews, and you should see 3 people matches. If you don’t, recrawl both service applications using Full Crawls
- Log off administrator, and log on as contoso\brads, pass@word1
- Open IE to 02 - M300 Digital Camera in the SharePoint 2010 Value Pillars Demo folder
- Add the the Intranet zone (Tools, Internet Options, Security tab)
- Configure SharePoint Workspace
- Back in IE, you should see an IE prompt in the bar at the top install the SharePoint Workspace add-on (if you don’t see it, trigger it by clicking Site Actions). Install the add-on, close IE, then reopenIE to 02 - M300 Digital Camera
- Open SharePoint Workspace
- Create a new account if one doesn’t exist (accept the default name)
- Click Site Actions, then Sync to SharePoint Workspace
- Click OK at the SharePoint Workspace prompt
- Click OK at any prompts to install VSTO applications (the VSTO window may be hidden – look for a flashing icon at the bottom)
- Wait for sync to complete (you may see some errors). This takes 3-5 minutes.
- In the SharePoint Workspace launcher, open the M300 Digital Cameraworkspace
- Click the Customer Feedback list, and click the Contoso Inventorylist.
- Add sites to SharePoint Sites favorites
- In IE, open01 - Projects from the SharePoint 2010 Value Pillars Demofavorites folder.
- Click Contosoto get to the main site, click Digital Assets in left nav, then click Library in ribbon, then click Connect to Office dropdown and click Add to SharePoint sites
- In IE, open 12 – Marketing Documentsin the SharePoint 2010 Value Pillars Demo folder
- Click Library in ribbon, then click Connect to Office dropdown and click Add to SharePoint sites
- Open the presentation you see in the library in PowerPoint, then close without saving
- Close IE
- Reboot
