MEMBERSHIP AND OUTREACH DIRECTOR

SUMMARY

The Membership and Outreach Director is responsible for the strategic direction and integrated organizational operation of society membership activities. Supervises 2 FTE who manage membership and customer service operations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Membership

·  Strategic direction – provides recommendations to society leadership and strategizes on future initiatives; identifies trends and opportunities for expansion and outreach initiatives.

·  Retention and recruitment - develops, implements, tracks and evaluates a comprehensive membership recruitment and retention plan.

·  Data analysis – conducts membership needs assessment surveys and environmental scans for other membership models and best practices. Evaluates member satisfaction. Monitors membership KPIs.

·  Operations - directs accurate and timely operations of the membership program, including individual application processing; invoicing; and department maintenance of membership database within AMS.

·  Develops and maintains online membership communities.

·  Serves as liaison to Membership Committee and works with other committees on membership-related projects.

·  Identifies member segments and creates communication campaigns and strategies with marketing staff.

·  Manages membership department budget.

·  Supervises customer service operations.

Other

·  Provides effective leadership, coaching and mentoring.

·  Fosters a learning environment for employees to support individuals’ professional development and career advancement goals.

·  Works closely with Executive Director and key AOFAS volunteer leadership.

·  Supports and manages other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

·  Bachelor’s degree required

·  8+ years’ experience in an association setting

·  Must have experience managing programs with staff and volunteer involvement

·  Strong written and verbal communication skills

·  Must have strong customer service and team orientation

·  Must be computer competent, familiar with AMS platforms

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

·  Must enjoy a small office environment

·  Must be available to travel (approx. 15 days/year)

·  Must be able to lead and participate in conference calls and programs
