Ms. Whitney Ensor- Foley Family and Consumer Sciences

Course Description: This course provides opportunities for students to develop career competencies in the fashion and/or interiors industry by applying information related to social, economic, and media influences. Students apply knowledge of design principles and processes through skill performance activities. Work experience will be explored and leadership development will be provided through Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.

Materials: Composition Notebook for notes and handouts as well as a folder with place to store graded assignments/classroom work. Writing Utensil Everyday! Paper Everyday!

If a sewing project is assigned there additional fee up to $15.00-$20.00 to cover supplies. Some additional monies may be spent on other projects as assigned.

Classroom Policies:

·  Failure to have classroom materials (pen/pencil, paper, book, etc) will result in a reduction of a grade, and detention for repeat offenders.

·  Classroom time is important and I expect students to remain in class.

·  Three Exit slips will be given at the beginning of each nine weeks; these include your Rest Room passes. ( The 15/15 rule applies to all classes)

·  Cell phones are prohibited in class and phone use is rude while in class setting.

·  Students are to remain in their seats until I have dismissed class, there will be no lining up at the doorway, or running out of the room when the bell rings. I will dismiss you.

·  Students shall have respect for the classroom, teacher, their peers, and any classroom equipment or supplies.

·  The room is expected to be kept neat and orderly, it will be Ms. Ensor-Foleys’s and your responsibility to maintain order in the classroom. Different responsibilities may be assigned to students throughout the year.

Class Rules

1.  No talking while Ms. Ensor-Foley is talking.

2.  Come to class with supplies every day

3.  Turn in Complete Assignments on time.

4.  Follow Instructions and do what the teacher asks of you.

5.  Respect opinions and ideas of others.

6.  Take care of classroom, equipment, and supplies.

7.  Leave the room neat and clean.

8.  Push in your chair and wait for Ms. Ensor-Foley to dismiss you.

Class Participation: Students will receive a grade for all work in class; it may be individual or part of a notebook, or work. All students are expected to participate in daily classroom procedures. You may be asked to read aloud, speak in front of your peers, work in a group, present a concept, do research, etc.

Homework/Assignments: No late work will be accepted!! If you have a personal reason why you do not have you assignment you may write me a letter explaining your personal reason for not having your work. All assignments are to be turned into the basket for your class.

Make-up Policy: When a student misses school it will be their responsibility to get missed assignments for class. All class work will be posted to the website

Extra Credit: Participation in FCCLA activities outside of the classroom and community service activities. Other activities may be assigned for extra credit.

Grading Scale: There will be a variety of assignments with varying point allotments. Examples of grades include: Daily work, projects, writings, quizzes, tests, group work, and presentations. The grading scale that is set forth by the Montgomery County High School for all grading in the course
