Grant Application
Introduction
The CenturyLink Clarke M. Williams Foundation has allocated $30,000.00 to the Wyoming Department of Education through an education grant to help support classroom projects that demonstrate innovative uses of technology in the classroom. Wyoming preK-12 teachers who teach at a school in a CenturyLink residential service area may apply for the grants. Grants will be distributed to local schools on behalf of the winning teachers. The funds may be used to purchase the following for use in the classroom: supplies and materials, software and hardware, or professional development activities. Any supplies and materials, software and hardware purchased become the property of the school should the teacher leave the school.
The funds will be available May, 2015 and must be spent during the 2015-2016 academic school year. The funds must be spent by June 30, 2016.
The grant application process will be administered by a partnership of the Wyoming Department of Education and CenturyLink.
The deadline for application is January 2, 2015.
The purposes of this grant are to:
- Support Wyoming preK-12 Educators who will use technology or training in innovative ways in the classroom to improve student performance.
- Increase the use of technology in the classroom by sharing proven methods of how teachers are using technology to improve student performance.
- Improve teaching and leadership skills of educators.
Important Tip: The proposals most likely to be selected for funding will use technical equipment or training as part of an innovative project in the classroom – either a new project or an existing program that can be taken to another level. Requests for equipment (e.g. iPods. whiteboards, projectors, calculators, etc.) that will essentially be integrated into existing projects and curriculum, however worthy, will probably not be selected. It is also unlikely that proposals which lack sustainability will be selected (e.g. one time funding for field trips or FIRST LEGO robotics team entry fees, etc.).
Timelines
- Grant proposals must be received electronically by 5:00 PM, January 2, 2015.
- Proposals that arrive after this date will not be considered.
- CenturyLink Teachers and Technology Grant Application Assurance Sheet and the Applicant Certification must be sent with original signatures and postmarked by January 2, 2015.
- Grants will be announced after April 1, 2015 and awarded by May 15, 2015.
It is important that participants adhere to the deadlines of this grant.
Eligibility
All current preK-12 Wyoming teachers who reside in the residential service area of CenturyLink are eligible to apply with the exception of those who are on the selection committee or received a grant through this program in the 2011-12, 2012-13 or 2013-14 school years/see Appendix A). CenturyLink service is not required and status as a customer will not be considered in review of the applications. A teacher may receive a maximum of one grant award every 4 years but there is no limit to the number of awards given to different teachers at any particular school.
