STAGEPLAYS will present the World Premiere of John Anastasi’s two-act drama PIED-À-TERRE at the Kirk Theatre, Off-Broadway, on New York’s Theatre Row. Previews begin November 26th with the opening on December 1st; the limited engagement will continue through January 5, 2008. PIED-À-TERRE will perform Tuesday-Saturday evenings at 8 PM, with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2 PM.
PIED-À-TERREis a story of Julia, a TV journalist who discovers a penthouse owned by her husband, Jack, which she was unaware existed. As Julia explores the apartment, she is interrupted by Katie, a young woman, who seems to know Jack a little too well. As the two women face off and secrets unfold revealing the burdens each has been carrying, the two women learn they have more in common than either thought possible.
Stageplays Theatre Company (Stageplays®) is a not-for-profit company formed in 1992 to develop and produce new American plays which address the issues of our times. Stageplays has presented full productions of six new plays and one new musical and introduced 52 new plays and 3 new musicals to the theatrical marketplace.
Produced and directed by Tom Ferriter, PIED-À-TERRE will have sets by Randall Parsons, lighting by Jeffrey Koger, and sound by Chris Rummell, with original music by Michael Valenti and choreography by Ron DeJesus; wig and hair design is by Wendy Parson. Casting for PIED-À-TERRE is by Stageplays’ Casting Director, Laura Dragomir.
Playwright JOHN ANASTASIhas writtenIn My Father'sEyes, a play with music, presented at the Forum Theater, NJ and the Mishler Theater, Altoona, PA. His play, Stolen Lives, was presented at the Acorn Theater on Theater Row. His screenplays include Choice of a Lifetime and Absence of Faith.
Producer/Director TOM FERRITER directed the world premieres of The Crying Woman/La Llorona (Beckett Theatre), In The Air (Theatre 315), First Wife (Emelin Theatre), Enchanted Afternoon, Twisters (Nat Horne), Perpetrator (Singers Forum), and Reunion at RedFork (Marilyn Monroe Little Theatre). Internationally, he produced and directed the world premiere of Nanny (Nottara Theatre–Bucharest), and the European premiere of From A Dark Land (National Theatre of Romania).
