Contents Inventory Form

Your home and its contents are probably your most valuable assets and you need to be sure that they are adequately insured.

This form has been designed to aid and assist you in compiling an accurate inventory and sum insured of your household contents. Whilst the list is fairly comprehensive, no two homes are the same and whilst some items may not be relevant to you, others may have been missed, so please feel free to amend the form to suit your own circumstances as best you can.

Please note that the sums insured under your policy are the maximum amount insurers can pay when settling a claim. It is in your best interest to ensure that your sum insured is adequate to cover ALL of your contents if there should be a major catastrophe. Your policy will replace property as new.

The value of items such as jewellery, fine art & antiques often fluctuate independently of inflation. You should therefore regularly value these items to ensure that their full value is insured.. The checklist on the following pages will help you to work out the total sum insured for your contents.

The values should be calculated on a “NEW FOR OLD” basis i.e. what it would cost you to replace the item with a new one of similar quality. This is a simple matter when it comes to valuing a washing machine or a television, but it can be difficult for Fine Art and Antiques. In this case, you should state the value you would expect to receive if the item was sold in a sale room, or the value as per an up-to-date valuation.
