Overview:Title II – Dwight D. Eisenhower Professional Development Program
1. The purpose and intent of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Professional Development Program (Title II) is to provide financial assistance to school districts to ensure that teachers, and where appropriate, staff and administrators have access to intensive and sustained high-quality professional development so as to have a positive and lasting impact on the teacher’s performance in the classroom.
- Training and professional development is to be aligned with state content and state student performance standards in core academic subjects with focus on mathematics, science, and reading.
Goals with Benchmarks:
- A minimum of 80% of the funds must be spent on campus-based professional development activities for teachers and where appropriate administrators, pupil services personnel, parents, and other staff
- A maximum of 20% of the funds may be used for district level professional development activities if the activities support instructional personnel
- Instructional supplies and materials for classroom use are not allowed
- The school district must conduct a Needs Assessment of local needs for professional development
