Attached you will find an application to be used for your consideration in being awarded a Stephen T. Marchello Foundation Scholarship for individuals who have survived childhood cancer.

This scholarship has been designed to be available to individuals who have had childhood cancer and were treated or currently reside in Colorado or Montana. The minimal requirements are stated at the top of the attached application.

The criteria on which determination of awards is made will be as follows:

  • High School grade point average (GPA). Please include copy of transcript.
  • SAT or ACT test scores.
  • Information provided by the doctor, who directed your treatment, in one of the required letters of reference submitted. If you are unable to contact the doctor, have the hospital or clinic provide confirmation of your treatment.
  • Information provided by two other people, other than a family member, in the form of a letter of reference.
  • The quality of your responses to the two essay questions on the application.

Applications and all other requested information is due at the address listed on our letterhead by 5:00 P.M., March 15th. When March 15th falls on Sunday, the application will be due on Monday, March 16. No late applications will be accepted. Completed applications may be submitted to the Stephen T. Marchello Scholarship Foundation, any time prior to the closing date.

The Stephen T. Marchello Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors will make the initial screening of the applications received. The final award decisions will be made after a personal interview. Proof of acceptance at the institution of higher education of the recipient's choice must be made prior to granting of the award.

The scholarship recipients will be notified when deemed appropriate by the Stephen T. Marchello Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors. Those selected for the awards will be notified in person or by phone.

If you are awarded a renewable scholarship, it is your obligation to keep us informed of your progress in school in order to be awarded the scholarship money the following semesters.

Notification of the scholarship awards will be made when deemed appropriate by the Stephen T. Marchello Foundation Board of directors, which reserves the right not to present an award. The aforementioned Board will screen applications with the final decision being made after a personal interview.
