ATHLETIC EQUIPMENT ATTENDANT1
CLASS TITLE:ATHLETIC EQUIPMENT ATTENDANT
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Athletic Director and the chair of the Kinesiology, Health, and Nutrition department, maintain and control athletic and physical education budget, equipment and supplies; issue, receive, store and repair equipment; purchase uniforms and equipment; assure that equipment and facilities are prepared in a timely manner according to established schedules.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Develop budget for the purchase of athletic uniforms and equipment; assist coaches in determining uniform and equipment needs; prepare bids, contact vendors to determine price, availability and quality of products and purchase uniforms and equipment. [E]
- Receive, mark, inventory and distribute equipment to classes, athletic teams, and instructors. Maintain and repair equipment. Collect, inspect, and store equipment at the end of the season. [E]
- Issue and control inventory of towels to Physical Education classes and athletic teams; count and bag soiled towels and clothing for laundry cleaning; inspect, re-issue or store when returned; coordinate pick up time before and after during regular working hours. [E]
- Maintain locker room facilities in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition; repair and maintain lockers; inspect, clean and maintain weight room equipment.
- Prepare gymnasium with athletic equipment for Physical Education classes including, but not limited to, volleyball, tennis, and soccer.
- Inspect weight room and equipment and conduct and/or arrange for repairs as needed.
- Issue audio-visual equipment and materials for use in department classrooms, athletic events or coaching needs.
- Train and provide work direction to assigned work study students.
- Maintain related records and prepare reports; prepare forms for equipment outstanding and for transcript holds. [E]
- Keep official score book and may serve as timekeeper at basketball games. Train workers to assist at scorer’s table.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Methods of cleaning, maintaining and repairing of athletic uniforms and equipment.
Storage and inventory principles and practices.

Rules and regulations of a variety of athletic competitions, including Commission on Athletics and Pacific Coast Athletic Conferencerules
Recordkeeping techniques.

ABILITY TO:
Learn to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures and apply them in a variety of procedural situations.
Maintain and control athletic and physical education budget, equipment and supplies.
Maintain inventory records.
Maintain and repair athletic clothing and equipment.
Operate a variety of office equipment, including computer and appropriate software
Operate a microbus, school vans, electric cart, bleacher mover, airlift.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education and experience equivalent tograduation from high schooland 2 years of closely related experience.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver license.
WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Not assigned permanent staff to supervise. Provides work direction to student workers and/or temporary staff.
CONTACTS:
Students, athletes, coaches, faculty, other departments, vendors, trainers, and rental agencies.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Moderate physical labor including pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, bending and/or stooping; lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to a maximum of 70 pounds; including repetitive use of computer keyboard, mouse or other control devices; ability to travel and/or drive to a variety of locations on and off campus as needed to conduct district business.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships involving appropriate interactions and communications personally, by phone and in writing with a variety of individuals and/or groups of individuals from diverse backgrounds on a regular, on-going basis; on-going basis; ability to concentrate on detailed tasks for extended periods of time and/or intermittently while attending to other responsibilities; ability to work effectively under pressure on multiple tasks concurrently while meeting established deadlines and changing priorities.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Indoor and outdoor athletic and physical education environments.subject to frequent contacts and interruptions by individuals in person or by phone; exposure to dust, dirt, heat, cold, fumes, steam, moisture, noise, etc.; may be required to work at any district location or authorized facility during day and/or evenings hours including occasional weekends and holidays on an as-needed basis.
