1.0General This specification guide covers the general requirements for design,

information/manufacturing and installation of analog signal converters for

Introductionconverting temperature signals into desired output signals.

2.0Product features/The analog signal converter shall be designed for converting

product functions temperature signals of PT100 sensors (-50 °C…+500 °C) into standard current and voltage signals. Single-function as well as universal versions of the device shall be available.

The single-function devices shall be designed for a determined input temperature range and a set output signal range. No adjustments shall be required for the single-function temperature signal converters.

The universal device shall be configurable for the desired input temperature and the required output current or voltage range (The output signals shall be possible to be configured in the range of 0-10 V for voltage signals and 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA for current signals).

The required input and output ranges shall be able to be configured by means of directly accessible DIP switches on the side.

A gain and an offset of ± 5 %should be possible to be adjusted by means of potentiometers located on the front side of the device.

The temperature signal converters shall be provided with a 3-way electrical isolation (2.5 kV) to ensure maximum operating safety.

The device shall accept 2- or 3-wire connection of the RTD sensors.

The response time shall be 10 ms.

The supplied voltage shall be indicated by a preferably green colored LED.

The temperature signal converter for RTD sensors shall be ABB type CC-E/ RTD or pre-approved equal.

3.0Conformance/The temperature signal converter for RTD sensors shall be

standardsdesigned, manufactured and tested in accordance with the latest editions of applicable IEC standards.

Product standard:EN 50178

Electromagnetic compatibility:

ESD IEC 61000-4-2, EN 61000-4-2

HF radiation resistanceIEC 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-3

BurstIEC 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-4

SurgeIEC 1000-4-5, EN 61000-4-5

HF line emission IEC 1000-4-6, EN 61000-4-6

4.0 Approvals / MarksThe temperature signal converter shall be approved and/ or certified by the following organizations:

-Underwriters Laboratories (cULus; UL 1604, class 1, div.2)

and shall have the following marks:

-CE

-C-Tick

5.0 Technical dataThe temperature signal converter shall be rated in accordance

with the following specifications:

6.0 MechanicalThe temperature signal convertersshould be realized in a 22.5 mm

requirements wide enclosure, possible to be mounted on DIN rail.

The plug-in connecting terminals should be able to accept solid wires in the size of 4 mm² (10 AWG) and stranded wires in the size of 2.5 mm² (14 AWG). The mounting position shall take into account the ventilation slots on the top and the bottom of the device. The degree of protection shall be IP20, according to DIN 40050.

7.0 QualityThe vendor shall be certified in accordance to ISO 9001 (quality

requirementsmanagement system) and ISO 14001 (environmental certification).

A complete environmental product declaration (EPD) shall be

available upon request. The EPD shall describe the material

used for the temperature signal converter, energy consumption, losses, etc.

The products shall be functionally tested prior to shipment to assure

proper operation per specification.

8.0 DocumentationThe device shall be shipped with an operation and instruction sheet

including functional diagrams, connection diagrams and set up

information.

9.0 Startup andStartup procedures shall be intuitive and simple enough so as not to

adjustmentrequire factory assistance or training. All adjustments shall be made from the front of the device by using adjustment potentiometers or by means of directly accessible DIP switches on the side (universal version).
