These courses develop participants through discussion, group work and most importantly, activity. All participants will have the opportunity to teach.

The atmosphere is fun, friendly, welcoming and supportive. The emphasis is on drawing together the wide range of experiences that the tutor and participants bring and making those experiences available to everyone.

This course counts as CPD for Pony Club coaching accreditation (required every two years).

'Introduction To Pony Club Coaching – Step 1' Course

Who is this course is for?

  • Pony Club Members aged 16 years or older who are enthusiastic to teach at D/D+ level, who currently hold their Pony Club C test or above.
  • Pony Club coaches at any level who want to refresh their ideas or check they are in line with best practice
  • Past Members, supporters or parents over 25 years who have sound horse knowledge and are enthusiastic to teach at D/D+ level.

What involved?

  • This course focuses on the basic skills needed to begin coaching, including planning riding and horse care sessions and the values underpinning Pony Club coaching. The Tutor : Participant ratio is 1:6.

What do participants need to wear on the course?

  • Participants need to be appropriately dressed to teach at a rally and to model a good standard of

turn out for Members.

  • Dress smartly to coach as your riders will have made a big effort!
  • Clean boots, tidy hair, minimum jewellery and nohoodies please.
  • The day will be spent in the indoor school & classrooms. Please do dress warmly, although we will be protected from any inclement winter weather!

What do participants need to bring?

  • Participants should bring the publications mentioned above if they have them and a notebook

and pen.

  • Please bring a packed lunch. Alternatively, the cafe at Moorwards should be open at lunchtime.

  • The IntroStep 2 course is the next & second step towards achieving the PC Coaching Certificate.

Do participants gain a qualification?

No, but they will receive a combined Attendance Certificate and Feedback Slip from the Course

and their attendance will be recorded on the PC database, as long as the participant is already

registered on the database.
