Gabriel Moulènes is the new Area Manager for Central and Eastern Europe at UTA

·  UTA is further expanding its presence in Eastern Europe

·  The supply network covers strategically important transit routes

Kleinostheim – 29 March 2016. UNION TANK Eckstein GmbH & Co. KG (UTA) is increasing its distribution in Central and Eastern Europe: From 1 April 2016, Gabriel Moulènes, as the new Area Manager, will be responsible for the development of the UTA business in the region. In this position, the 42 year-old will head the direct and agency business in Hungary, Romania, Poland and the Baltic states for instance from Budapest and will also supervise the set-up of the direct business in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Gabriel Moulènes has extensive industry experience. After graduating successfully at the ESSCA Business School in France and the Bristol Business School in England, the native-born Frenchman has held various positions with the TOTAL Group for over 15 years. At first he joined as Eurotrafic Sales Manager, led the maintenance of the company’s own service stations as of 2005, and supported a subsidiary in Hungary specialised in lubricants as Business Developer from 2009. Following this, Moulènes assumed overall responsibility for the TOTAL branch office in Bulgaria, which he led most recently as Managing Director.

With the increase in personnel, UTA is setting the course for the future and supporting the development of the international business with fuel and service cards in commercial goods and passenger transportation. "We are pleased that we have been able to bring on board a competent industry expert in Gabriel Moulènes, who knows the demands of the Eastern European oil and fuel card industries very well", says Volker Huber, the CEO at UTA "Due to his long-standing experience and his outstanding management capabilities, he has the best prerequisites to press ahead with the further set-up and expansion of our activities in this important emerging market." Above all, the Central European countries are thriving and have strategic significance for German companies as a sales market, production site or trading partner. In the first half-year of 2015 alone, trade with the Visegrad states (Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia) grew by more than eight per cent. The amount of goods that is transported across national borders is growing correspondingly.

In order to further optimise service for operators of commercial vehicles in the Eastern European countries, UTA is not just further expanding the petrol station network, but also the distribution capacity. Just recently a new site was put into operation in Bucharest, from where the UTA card scheme will be run in Romania. "Transport companies are also placing ever greater demands on their service providers", says Volker Huber. "In order to save time and money, they expect cross-border comprehensive complete offers and service provision from a single source."
