Honolulu, HI,February 13, 2008 —The March of Dimes Hawaii Chapter is pleased to announce that Dave Livingston will serve as the Statewide Chair and Bob Ingersollwill serve as the Co-chair forMarch for Babies at Kapi’olani Park. Lt. Governor ‘Duke’ Aiona will once again serve as Statewide Honorary Chair. Formerly known as WalkAmerica, March for Babies is the March of Dimes premier fundraising event that benefits all babies—those born healthy as well as those who need help to survive and thrive.

“I’m proud to be part of a national movement to ensure that every baby has a healthy start in life,” Dave said. “Everyone can be a champion for baby health by signing up for March for Babies.” Dave continued. Davespent 25 years as a YMCA Director in California and Hawaii and retired in 1994. He served on the neighborhood Board in Hawaii Kai from 1999 to 2001 and back on again in 2003 where he is a current member.

Dave is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. His headquarters are at the Ala Moana Office. "Edward Jones is Proud to be a Sponsor of this year's "March for Babies" and I could not be prouder to haveBob Ingersoll as our Co-Chair. We have a great team supporting our efforts this year including Patti-Jo Day of AIG Hawaii, John Henry Felix of HMAA Hawaii, Glen Kaneshige of Nordic Construction, Dave Kennedy of the Honlulu Star-Bulletin/MidWeek, Jeff Moken of Continental Airlines, Lee Webber of the Honolulu Advertiser and General (Ret) Herbert E. Wolff. and look forward to a fun, safe, and profitable walk! I hope all of our "Friends of Babies" join us this year at the walk and stick around afterwards to enjoy Keiki Karnival, free food and exciting entertainment including Sean Na’auao and Anjj Lee.

Bob Ingersoll, Group Vice President of Hawaii Operations, began his career as a store clerk with Longs Drug Stores more than 30 years ago. “My daughter was born 8weeks premature at 3 lbs. 13 ounces. We are fortunate because she is now a healthy, happy 19 year old student at Willamette University. But when she was in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), we didn’t know what her future had in store for her. That’s why I am honored to be the Co-chair of this great event and to have Longs as a premier sponsor.”

Premature birth touches half a million babies and their families every year including one in eight babies in Hawaii. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have disabilities. More than 120,000 babies are born with serious birth defects that can mean a lifetime of disability. Babies born healthy need champions, too, tobe sure they have access to newborn screening and preventive health care. The March of Dimes is there for all babies.

In Honolulu, March for Babies will take place on Saturday, April 26th at 7:30 a.m. at Kapi’olani Park. Honolulu residents can sign up today to help fund lifesaving research and educational programs aimed at helping moms have healthy babies. Funds raised by March for Babies in Hawaii support Hawaii Chapter community grants, public and professional health education and the NICU Family Support Project.

“It’s easy to join me,” said Dave Livingston. “Just visitmarchforbabies.org or call toll-free 1-800-525-9255 to sign up as an individual, start a corporate, family or friends team, or donate to help babies be born healthy.”

In 2008, national March for Babies sponsors are CIGNA, Continental Airlines, Famous Footwear, Farmers, FedEx, Grain Foods Foundation, Liberty Tax Services, nesting.com, and Kmart, the March of Dimes number one corporate partner whichhas raised more than $63 million for babies. Additional national sponsorship is provided by Discovery Health,Mead Johnson Nutritionals, Outdoor Services and Ther-Rx.
