DIGITAL VIDEO EXS-225 PROJECT # 1B
LOADING VIDEO INTO THE THUMB DRIVE FROM THE TAPE or SD CARD
** Necessary Equipment and Materials
1. Your DVC (60 mins.) Pro Video Tape with the shots recorded on it
2. Your SD (4 gb) Card with the shots recorded on it
3. Firewire and the equipment to play it into the Dartfish Program
4. Your 8 or 16 GB Thumb Drive
5. A Card Reader and the Connecting Cable
6. Fire Wire (for use from camcorders to the computer)
7. Camcorders: Canon ZR960(16:9), SONY DCR-HC52(4:3), TOSHIBA PA-3974
You will Capture ALL THREE SHOTS, from all Locations, into the DartFish Tray
You will only use ONE of the THREE Shots from each Location for this project

Put the Thumb Drive into the computer and create a Folder “Project # 1”.
This will be where you put all your Movies & DartFish Programs for this project.

Capturing the Videos from the DVC-PRO TAPE to the Hard Drive
1. Connect the Camcorder to the Computer using a Fire Wire
a. Put tape into camcorder and REWIND it to the beginning
b. Put the Camcorder into the PLAY MODE
c. Be sure the computer recognizes the Camcorder
d. There should be a box appearing on the screen, choose DartFish
2. Go to the DartFish Program and Click On CAPTURE VIDEO (DV Import)
a. Now Select the VIDEO CAPTURE DEVICE
b. Scroll Down and select the Name of the Camcorder that you are using
3. There are TWO Things to control when Capturing the Video
a. The Tape in the Camcorder (Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind, Fast Forward)
b. The Record function in DartFish (Red Button “START” Red Button “STOP”)
4. START VIDEO on the Camcorder
5. PRESS RED BUTTON to START Capturing Video From the Tape
6. PRESS RED BUTTON again to STOP the Capturing process
*** The TAPE will still be moving unless you PAUSE it TOO ***
7. MOVIES Should appear in the TRAY (Bottom Lf) after each Capture
8. REPEAT this process for each of the THREE SHOTS in each Sequence
9. Left Click on the Name of each clip
10. Right Click > RENAME > Change the name to the CODE ABOVE
11. Record and renamed your Three Shots > Got to TOOLS > Click on PLAYER
12. Click on the Clips and decide what ONE you want to keep
13. DELETE the other two shots
14. Highlight the ones in the Box to the LEFT of the PLAY WINDOW and DELETE
DO THIS FOR ALL THE THREE SHOT SEQUENCES AND GET THEM IN THE TRAY
TO STORE THE CLIPS IN YOUR THUMB DRIVE
1. Highlight the Chosen Clip
2. Go to FILE
3. SAVE MOVIE
4. CHOOSE *CREATE A NEW VIDEO CLIP INTO THE FOLDER
(Later on when you alter the Clip the choice will be CHANGE THE CLIP)
5. BROWSE
6. COMPUTER
7. THE THUMB DRIVE
8. CHOOSE THE PROJECT FILE NAME (select folder)
9. Check to see that your Thumb Drive and the Project Folder are listed
10. NEXT (the program will save the selected clips to the thumb drive)
11. CLOSE THIS PROGRAM
12. CHECK IN THE THUMB DRIVE FOR
a. The Video Clip (AVI)
b. The ICON for the DartFish Instructions with the Same Name
