Grant Park Community Garden Application

All participants agree to the following rules:

This agreement runs from February 1, 2013 – January 31, 2014.

1.  Garden hours are dawn - dusk.

2.  Private plots have non-refundable annual fees as follows. 15 plots (3’ x 10’) at $40 per plot with more available later.

3.  All members must work a minimum of 3 hours per month in the Plant a Row sections, or common areas of the garden (front beds, compost areas, weed whacking the slopes, kudzu & Johnson grass removal, and planting, harvest, delivery of plant-a-row crops). 2 weekly organized work sessions (1 work week evening 1 weekend morning, depending on available light) will be planned & tasks can be completed at other times as well.

4.  All participants are required to sign the liability release & enter the property at their own risk.

5.  Go Organic: Only organic fertilizer, pesticide, or fungicide use is permitted. See if your product qualifies here: http://www.omri.org/OMRI_products_list.php.

6.  Water conservation is a must for this garden. Water (which is being purchased for the garden) is available from the storage tanks, but water in the early morning or evening, & conserve whenever you can. To avoid bed compaction & conserve moisture please keep your steps (your feet) on the paths & add compost & mulch (not wood chips) to your beds. Notify a garden coordinator if you are no longer able to tend your plot; will be absent for a long period of time; or have asked a friend to tend your garden.

7.  Dormant/untended plots: Once you are assigned your plot, you have 2 weeks to clear your plot. Please keep your plot weed free as weed seed spreads very quickly. If your plot goes clearly untended overgrown for more than a 2 week period, you will be notified by email or phone that it may be reclaimed & reassigned. If there is no improvement within the following two week period, then a second notice will go out & the plot will be reassigned or converted to Plant a Row after one week from final notification. No refunds will be paid.

8.  Please do not harvest from other’s beds unless given permission.

9.  Family members are welcome to the garden site. Please supervise young children so they don’t disturb other plots. Keep all pets on leash & remember to scoop their poop & remove from site.

10.  Pack out your trash & leave the area looking better for your presence.

11.  In consideration of the garden’s neighbors, loud music will not be allowed.

12.  Parking: Try to leave a space free in front of the garden for folks unloading.

I, the undersigned, agree to the rules and regulations and will strive to be helpful to my fellow gardeners.
