Participation Requirements and Options for Teachers:

  1. Attend a two-day professional development workshop on the SIOP Model and ELPS to be delivered by Region 10 Education Service Centeron:
  • September 16 and September 17, 2015 for Denton ISD at the Denton ISD Lecture Hall, 1307 North Locust Street, Denton, TX.
  • September 23 and September 24, 2015 for Lewisville ISDatLewisville ISD Student Services Administration Building, 400 W. Main St., Lewisville, TX.
  1. Attend a follow-up professional development workshop on:
  • October 28th and 29th, 2015 for both Denton ISD and Lewisville ISD in-service teachers at Denton ISD Lecture Hall, 1307 North Locust Street, Denton.
  1. Participate in project evaluation activities.
  1. Option to participate in TExES ESL Supplemental Review Sessions at UNT on November 7th2015 and April 2nd 2016 at Wooten Hall, Room TBA. Contact Daniel Baxter to register and have the registration fee of $120 reimbursed.
  2. Option to register for the TExESESL Supplemental exam.
  3. Teachers participate in all evaluation activities.

UNT’s Commitment to Participants Include:

  1. Services from a Region 10 Education Service Center (ESC) instructional coach to deliverprofessional development workshopson the SIOP model and ELPS.
  2. Materials for the professional development workshops.
  3. Reimbursement to the school districts for substitute teachers’ payat $100 per day per participant.
  4. Access to the UNT Mathematics and Science education for ELL student’s web portal at the COE webpageat
  5. Reimbursement on a first come first served basis of the registration fee of $120.00 for 12 teachers who take the TExESESL Supplemental exam.
  6. Reviewsessions delivered by Region 10 ESC consultants for the TExES ESL Supplemental exam once per semester at the UNT campus, Wooten Hall, Room TBA.
  7. Each participant will receive a certificate for the participation in the professional development program.
  8. Evaluate all the project activities.
