UNMANNED SYSTEMS PROGRAM COMMITTEE (USPC)

CHARTER

The Unmanned SystemsProgram Committee (USPC) represents and serves the broad interests of the unmanned & robotic systems community, encompassing aerial (UAS), space (robotic), ground (UGV), surface water (USV), underwater (UUV), and other unmanned and robotic systems, their components, and their myriad applications. The Committee’s scope of interest spans the spectrum of development and operations, including research, conceptualization, technologies, design, system and platform development, manufacture, integration, test, evaluation, public policy and regulatory issues, and other functions necessary for the fielding, operation and sustainment of these systems and their related components, along with their exploitation in military and civilian applications. The Committee promotes, sponsors, conducts and supports activities that further the development and evolution of these systems and their capabilities, as well as resolving issues that affect and impact them. Although the Committee’s principal focus is to further the unmanned systems technical agenda through technical activities and publications, it also focuses on issues and opportunities in the programmatic, educational, outreach, and related domains in the domestic and international environments, within and beyond the AIAA. The USPC routinely interacts with other AIAA committees and organizations to further its objectives.

USPC Goals

  • Catalyze an unmanned systems and technology constituency within AIAA and the aerospace and technical communities it serves
  • Facilitate the resolution of significant issues impacting the development, maturation or application of unmanned systems
  • Focus science & technology on unmanned systems’ needs, opportunities and applications
  • Promote cultural acceptance by potential users and the public
  • Facilitate regulatory development for airspace access and integration

USPC Membership

  • USPC membership is open to any qualified professional active in the field of unmanned & robotic systems, encompassing aerial, ground, and water vehicles and systems, robotic space vehicles and systems, and/or synergistic, enabling technologies for unmanned systems in all applications.
  • Prospective members should be able to commit to meetings held two times a year at various locations in the U.S., and to actively participate in the work of the subcommittees.
  • Participation or representation in two (2) of four (4) quarterly conference calls.
  • Committee membership is limited to 30 active members to allow for effective communications, coordination and dissemination of information.
  • Liaison organization membership includes individual representation of a related organization involved in parallel programs, having like or overlapping interests and technical representation in the areas of unmanned systems, vehicles or associated components. Liaison status is open to any and all approved domestic and international organizations.
