Overview

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work in an innovative way to coordinate the day to day operations of Connect Hertfordshire – the community hub. This has been commissioned by Hertfordshire County Council to connect communities and add value to the Voluntary Community Sector (VCS). It will take a transformative approach to working with and across the VCS in Hertfordshire over two years, with a potential of a third.

The overall aims of Connect Hertfordshire are to:

  • Enable a more cohesive and effective county wide voluntary and community sector (VCS) that contributes to the local Health and Well Being Strategy
  • Strengthen the infrastructure, enable innovation and demonstrate the social value of a coordinated VCS representative voice in Hertfordshire
  • Build an overarching information hub accessible to all VCS and umbrella organisations and other stakeholders
  • Co-produce a business offer to funders and local commissioners which builds capacity, increases fundraising opportunities, develops partnerships, and is based on assessed need, avoiding duplication

The service is provided by Resolving Chaos and Hasca Ltd working in partnership.

  • Resolving-Chaos is a Community Interest Company that takes a systems change approach to working with disadvantaged communities. Resolving Chaos is also working in Hertfordshire on other projects with offices in South Oxhey and Hertsmere.
  • Hasca Ltd is a training and consultancy company based in Hertfordshire with experience in projects that require inter-organisational planning.

The role

We are looking to recruit an experiencedProject Coordinatorcommitted tofacilitating collaboration and sharing best practice across the community voluntary sector. The individual will be well organised, skilled at stakeholder engagement and partnership working and will coordinate delivery ona day to day basis. They will contribute to establishing a steering group and then work closely with all partners and stakeholders to deliver the required outcomes. This involves meeting targets related to the number of CVS organisations provided with information, training, partnership and capacity building opportunities directed by the Steering Group.

The post holder will be expected to model the five key values that underpin community development practice: Social justice and equality, anti-discrimination, community empowerment, collective action and working and learning together.

The post will be managed by the Programme Manager - Connect Hertfordshire and will oversee administrative support for the project based within Resolving Chaos.

Job Purpose
  • Coordinate the day to day implementation and delivery of the work of Connect Hertfordshire – the Community Hub.
  • To be the key point of contact for all stakeholders
  • Ensure that outcomes targets are recorded, monitored and achieved

Works with

  • Resolving Chaos and Hasca Ltd, to ensure that they are able to provide strategic direction and support to enable the hubto meet its aims and required outcomes.
  • VCS organisations in Hertfordshire to ensure they are central to the project development and that co-production is embedded as a means to developing and delivering an effective service.
  • Steering Group to ensure that the work of Connect Hertfordshire – the Community hub is co-produced and owned by the VCS in Hertfordshire and is able to represent the sector
  • Other lead agencies and partners to share good practice and learning and embed practice from other areas.

Key Duties

  • Coordinate the day to day implementation and delivery of the work of Connect Hertfordshire – the Community Hub.
  • To be the key point of contact for all stakeholders
  • Develop the information hub and ensure that it is kept up to date
  • Carry out a needs audit through visiting organisations, and electronic and telephone survey methods to inform the delivery plan
  • Work with the Steering group to co-produce and implement a plan of work to include meetings and events and the production of and signposting to best practice and tools and resources
  • Plan and run events according to the agreed annual plan and ensure that speakers and associates are deployed appropriately and an effective evaluation process is in place.
  • Collate and maintain a database of engaged organisations and external partners and their offer to the sector in Hertfordshire
  • Develop, update and manage communication materials including leaflets, website, newsletters and social media
  • Ensure the timely preparation and submission of project reports to the Commissioners and Contract holders and attend quarterly monitoring meetings with commissioners
  • Ensure that quarterly performance monitoring reports are produced for Hertfordshire County Council to meet the requirements of the contract.
General Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To undertake any assignments or projects in a planned and professional manner ensuring that any work undertaken is completed within stipulated timeframes and given budget with the desired outcomes.
  • To maintain an awareness of the risks to the project and Resolving Chaos as a result of the delivery of the contract taking necessary action to minimise risks.
  • To deputise, as required, for Line Manager, Programme Manager – Connect Hertfordshire
  • To undertake any other duties that may be required to meet the demands of the service. These may be varied from time to time to meet the needs of the service.
  • To take full responsibility for the development and implementation of own Personal Development Plan, and own continued professional development in those areas relevant to own role.
