AIUB Presents Brand Forum Seminar: Rethinking Marketing Held on 18th April

Dhaka, Bangladesh, April 18, 2015: In order to share the best practices and thinking from around the world with local business leaders and marketing fraternity, Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF) is organized the 5th edition of Brand Forum Seminar, presented by AIUB, with the theme “Rethinking Marketing”.

After a year of many challenges and obstacles, 2015 is going to be a critical year for Bangladesh as this will set the tone for the country to charter a new era of progress and development. Brand Forum Seminar explored these challenges and opportunities during the one daylong Seminar.

It is one of the flagship initiatives of BBF and this year the seminar will inspire and guide the corporate of Bangladesh to change the conventional way of marketing keeping in mind the current trends and challenges arising from increasing consumer engagement in the digital arena and the overall changes in sociopolitical factors. Keeping that context in 2015 at the BBF Seminar, the theme of the seminar is -‘Rethinking Marketing’.

The day-long seminar took place on the 18th of April at Radisson Blue Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka. Four world renowned leaders from across the globe joined the seminar to share each of their unique experiences, insights and learning on marketing to help the corporate leaders find answers to reshape marketing. It was a great opportunity for participant to learn from the best global minds.

The welcome address was given by Shariful Islam, Founder of Bangladesh Brand Forum. In his speech he stressed on the need to redesign marketing to match the changing needs of consumers. A speech was also given by Dr Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor, AIUB.

The first session was conducted by Professor Dan Formosa, Jury President, Product Design, Cannes Lions, and Design Thinker, New York. His topic for the seminar was Reinventing Brands – Delivering Meaningful Promises.

The next session was be taken by Sunil Alagh, Founder and Chairman of SKA Advisors – a business advisory and consultancy service with an emphasis on Marketing and Brand

management strategies. He has 40 years of hands on experience in building successful brands like Britannia Tiger and he took his session on Marketing in Challenging Times.

Hooi Den Huan, Director, Nanyang Technopreneurship Center and Associate Professor, Nanyang Business School, also shared his hands on experience in the seminar. He talked about Rethinking Marketing in the Brand Forum Seminar 2015.

Hermawan Kartajaya, President, World Marketing Association and Co-founder, Asia Marketing Federation lead his session under the title of Rethinking Marketing. In 2003, he was named by the United Kingdom’s Chartered Institute of Marketing on the list of "50 Gurus Who Have Shaped the Future of Marketing". He shed light on the topic of Rethinking Marketing as well.

Two intense panel discussions also took place and one of the panel discussions was moderated by Professor Dan Formosa and the other one by Hermawan Kartajaya and Hooi Den Huan. The panels were shared by renowned business and marketing experts of the country. The day-long seminar was attended by around 400 business professionals. Daily Star and MSB were the strategic partners for this event. The event was supported by Rahimafrooz Solar as event partner, BEOL as banquet partner, ADN telecom as technology partner, Etihad Airways as airline partner, Bellissimo as ice-cream partner, WebAble as social media partner, Independent TV as TV partner, Maverick as digital content partner, and Masthead PR as PR partner.

Along with the seminar, an exclusive session for university students, titled “Go for Knowledge”, was also held at GP House. 250 students from 25 renowned universities have been selected through ideation campaign on engaging men in women empowerment. In addition to two international speakers from BBF Seminar 2015, Mr. Syed Tanvir Husain, Director, Center of Expertise, People & Organization, Grameenphone Ltd. also shared his experience and knowledge on marketing with the students.

BBF Seminar also conducted aspecial knowledge session at PMO on design thinking to solve social issues. A special engagement with the seminar speakers was organized at MCCI.
