  1. Treasurers Report – Sarah Broach
  2. Updated budget as of 5/1/15. It is anticipated we will have a decent overage at the end of the 2014-2015 school year which is good because there will be expenses early in the 2015-2016 school year. So far, family contributions have come in the amount of $107,074.00 as opposed to last year’s $97,119.00. Upcoming Spring Fling will bring in more funds.

  5. Co-Treasurers: Kristy Craig is still considering the role. There are two other parents who may be interested we will follow up with them in the coming days.

  2. Spring Fling – May 8. Live auction starts at 9:00 PM.
  3. PTA Meeting – May 14thRm 518 – List of names for nominees to the Exec Board will be presented. Anyone can nominate themselves.
  4. PTA Meeting – June 11. Last PTA meeting. Paper ballots for Exec Board members + planning session for the next year.
  5. Teacher & Staff Appreciation – May 22nd
  6. New Families Welcome – June 3rd, this is an event for the incoming 6th grade families
  7. Food, Volunteers, Merchandise Sale, School Forms, Presentation
  8. There was discussion about hosting a summer picnic for new families in June or September.
  9. Teacher & Staff Year-End Gifts – June.
  10. There was discussion about possibly giving gifts to the security guards, and janitorial staff, as well as, the teachers.
  11. Perhaps we should create an Institutional Protocol for Gifts.
  12. Is it too much to ask parents to contribute again to teachers and staff right after we ask for contributions to Teacher Staff Appreciation Day?
  13. Should we encourage more families to contribute to Teacher Staff Appreciation Day as their year-end gift?
  1. Committees for 2015-2016
  2. Education Series Coordinators - plans general meeting topics of interest and locate speakers for PA Meeting
  3. Patricia Janvier volunteered to be one of the coordinators. We should have at least one other volunteer
  4. Volunteer Coordinators – assist committee chairs with obtaining volunteers, maintain comprehensive and dynamic (meaning updated regularly) list of volunteers and activity. Regularly

review list to ensure we have enough volunteers for each activity. Keep volunteers informed regarding the work that is required and the timeframe.

  1. Community Building–How do we build a better sense of community
  2. New Student’s Picnic (Aug)
  3. Consider holding this in September
  4. encourage a sense of community between the parents in the grade
  5. Welcome Back Social (Sept/Oct)
  6. Turn this into a social by grade to encourage a sense of community between the parents in the grade
  7. This should be organized by the Grade Reps and Advisory Parents
  8. Consider doing a grade-level social directly after Curriculum Night instead of the grade level meetings we held the last two years.
  9. Spring Social (Mar / year-end?)
  10. Turn this into a social by grade to encourage a sense of community between the parents in the grade

  12. Holiday Celebration (Dec)
  13. This will remain a school-wide function targeting students, teachers and parents
  14. Community Outreach – There was some discussion about creating a better sense of community. It was suggested that we organize an event with all three co-located schools.
  15. Grant Writing Committee – Recent receipt of $2,000 grant to create an aquaponic classroom received. Michelle Hermancompleted an application for a grant to bring some bikes into the school was approved. The bike program will be launched next September. The committee has collected a library of grant writing materials. Nancy from last year has been a great help.
