Dear School Principal,
District 127 will host placement testing for current 8th graders who will attend Grayslake North or Grayslake Central. District 127 is now using the SAT suite of assessments as a key tool to measure student skill growth and college readiness. We will now be using the PSAT 8/9 as our placement test for all incoming freshmen.
The test will be given on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at both high schools. Students should arrive at 7:50 a.m. and bring a calculator and 2 sharpened pencils with erasers. Testing will be completed at approximately 11:15 a.m. and students should be ready for pick-up at that time. Students with Individualized Education Plans or 504 Plan accommodations may require additional time and will be dismissed once their testing has been completed. Information about accommodations we should provide and any questions should be directed to Mark Kettering our Director of Special Education at .
The test being administered is a national assessment and there is no availability for a fall make-up exam. We ask that students and families make every effort to participate in this assessment so we can accurately place students in freshmen classes. In the event that a student is ill or has an extenuating circumstance, final academic placement will be delayed until an alternate assessment has been administered, which may not be available until early Spring.
In order to prepare for this assessment, we need your assistance in compiling a database of incoming freshmen to generate placement tests for them. Attached to this email is a spreadsheet template of the information fields we require for placement testing. Please send your completed spreadsheet to Linda Feeney at will cross reference your provided lists and send an informational mailing about placement testing to all students who will be attending District 127 schools. In order to notify your students in a timely manner, please ensure we receive your student database by Friday, September 9, 2016.
