Hiring for factory positions may be on a seasonal (temporary) basis or permanent full time status, generally depending upon the time of year and our business needs. Most positions filled during the April through October timeframe are seasonal positions. Many employees who were hired in a seasonal position have moved into permanent full time positions. Business needs dictate the number of employees who can be retained on a permanent basis at the end of the seasonal period. Individual work performance is also a factor used in determining retention. We have found that many applicants are not aware of the products we manufacture or of the types of duties a person working at Billy Goat may be required to perform. A job at Billy Goat can be very challenging, physically demanding, and is not for everyone. Please read this page carefully. If you decide to complete our application for employment, be thorough and complete. Your completed application is the first opportunity we have to review your background and experience. If your application is not complete, it will be difficult for us to determine if you are a candidate we would like to invite in for an interview. If you are selected for an interview, you will have an opportunity for any questions that you may have to be answered. As much as we would like to respond to each and every person who completes an application for employment, the large number of applications that we receive means that it is impossible for us to respond to each and every one. Following is a brief overview of some, but not all, of our factory-related positions.

ASSEMBLY: The assembler works as part of a production team that is directed by a line lead to assemble components and parts to finished machines. There is a strong emphasis on efficiency, quality, and accuracy. This job requires experience using various types of hand tools and a strong mechanical aptitude and skills. The work is detailed, fast paced, and hands-on. You are required to stand on your feet to perform these duties. You must be able to follow direction from your line lead person in performing your duties. You will be required to take and pass a pre-employment skills assessment test at a Missouri Career Center office if selected for an interview. You will also be required to take and pass a pre-employment hands-on assembly test at Billy Goat.

MATERIAL HANDLING: Material handling requires the skills to safely operate a fork truck. The material handler may be receiving and putting away parts, retrieving parts and materials for the assembly line or other departments, moving finished goods to the shipping area, loading or unloading trucks, performing inventory counts, etc. This job requires excellent organization and identification skills.

WELDING: Most individuals in the weld department are skilled mig welders. They also do some spot welding. The department offers a variety of challenging jobs from operation of mig welding robots to the balancing operations of many parts.

FABRICATION: The Fabrication department provides many challenging operator applications including tubular handle bending, punch press operation, CNC roll machine, power saws, lathe, ironworker and drilling. Material used is primarily steel.

PAINT: The paint department is better known as the powder coating area. All parts that go to the coating area are Electro-statically charged to collect powder paint. Individuals working in this area transform raw steel parts into beautifully coated parts. Responsibilities begin with being able to efficiently hang parts to be cleaned in the

automatic cleaning chamber. After cleaning, the parts move to the coating position where they are sprayed with powder coating. They then move to the oven for permanently baking the finish.

Most of the above jobs require a lot of physical work. You will spend most of your time on your feet. You will be expected to report to work on time and, as an employee, be interested in learning about our company and your job.

We also expect you to perform your job in an acceptable and safe manner. We reward good performance and are always interested in our employees’ growth and development potential. We believe in treating all employees with dignity and respect and expect that our employees will treat their co-workers in the same manner.
