PROJECT TITLE: Key less Entry via Phone
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Our plan is to make a device that will enable the user to gain entry to their household without the need to carry actual key. We plan to incorporate the diverse functionality of the Arduino microcontroller, with the robustness the smartphones. The project can be broken down into these critical parts.
A. Programming
i.Designing the smart-phone application to lock and unlock the door.
ii. Encrypting the data stream between the smartphone and the device to maintain security.
B. Mechanical
i. incorporating a servomotor to physically unlock the door.
II. Attaching the motor and the processing parts to the door.
C. Systems (Arduino)
i.designing the circuit board to decrypt the message from the phone.
ii.Implementing a blue tooth modem to send/receive data from the phone
III.Sending control messages to the servo motor.
iv. Managing power states (conserving energy)
D. communications
i .applying a cryptographic scheme to secure the data.
ii. designing an antenna that fits with design while compromising on functionality
iii.Communicating the sate with the servo motor.
The Ardunio, initially at least, will be the base of all of the operation for our project. It will house the Bluetooth modem, which we will use to pair the phone with the Ardino. Then a mobile app on the phone will send a signal via Bluetooth to the microcontroller, which will signal it to the servo motor. Since we know that the servomotor operates via PCM, we can alter the length of the pulses to determine how far the motor will turn, and use this for the locking and unlocking of the door.

CAPSTONE RANKING:
332:428—Rose
332:418—Pompili
TEAMMATE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sid : will help design the android mobile application, and help with the second stage of the project, WIFI. Also, help with the programming on the adrino itself, and blue tooth packet analysis, to understand incoming data.
Michael: will help design the android mobile application, and maybe implement a server desktop app, that will allow people to ssh into that server and lock and unlock their doors for anywhere.
Kush: Adrino pogramming, making all of the signal processing. Altering the pulse lengths for the servo motor input for locking and unlocking the door, and setting up an interface between the Bluetooth modem and the microcontroller.
Neipaul: Concerned with the whole hardware aspects of the project. Making the device itself, power management, and working with Kush to alter servo motor voltage inputs.
