POWDERPUFF FOOTBALL

The Powderpuff football game that was to be played in the fall now has a new date: Thursday, April 14 at 6 pm. We will be doing sign-ups a little differently. You MUST sign-up again. Here are the rules for doing this:

**You may only sign up YOURSELF.

**Sign-ups will begin after school on Monday, April 4 in the office and remain open until the teams are filled.

**You may NOT add lines to the sheet or erase other people's names from the sheet. Doing so will disqualify you.

**You only may sign up before or after school, not during class.

If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Sprouse in room 36.

1)  Seniors….In about 10 weeks you will graduating! Why not remember your senior year here at SDHS with a personalized page in the yearbook! Have your parents visit Jostens.com to design your special space. It can be a full page or smaller.

2)  JUST A REMINDER! If you have not ordered your cap and gown for graduation, NOW is the time to do so. Go to Jostens.com and get this taken care of. Wearing a cap and gown is a requirement at graduation and due to the fact the gown has been redesigned, you will not be able to wear someone’s from years past. PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT US TO HAVE ONE FOR YOU AT GRADUATION AS WE WILL NOT. YOU MUST ORDER YOUR OWN.

3)  Seniors who plan to attend BRCC: If you have not yet taken your English or Math placement tests, they can be administered here at SDHS! See Mrs. Wangler or your guidance counselor to sign up. Space is limited and will fill quickly.

4)  Seniors planning to attend BRCC need to see Mrs.Wangler to verify that you are signed up to attend the group enrollment session that will be held here at SDHS on April 28. This is an important day where you can register for your fall college courses. You must see Mrs.Wangler to complete a registration form to be able to attend.

1)  If you need BEHIND THE WHEEL, please see Coach Kirby, Coach Johnson or Coach Floyd ASAP.

2)  The yearbook staff needs your help capturing this school year in photos! We can’t be everywhere and know we are missing great photo of school and out of school activities. Download the FREE REPLAY IT app and start sharing your action shots. Your photos may be featured in this year’s yearbook!

3)  Do you have a friend that might be experiencing some problems at school or home? Well……you can help! You may refer them to the “Student Assistance Team”, which is totally confidential program. Simply fill out a green referral form; you don’t even have to place your name on the form!!. The referral boxes have been moved. One is located in the Guidance Office and the other is on the wall between the bathrooms in Mr. Carter’s hallway. You can make a difference in reaching out and helping another person!

4)  Want a yearbook for this year? Don’t miss out on the opportunity to purchase one! Go to Jostensyearbook.com or see Mrs. Quesenberry before or after school!!

5)  SAT I Prep classes start this month at BRCC. This course helps prepare you to deal with the topics ranging from writing to critical reading and math. There are 2- 6 week sessions. See your counselors if you have questions or need information.

6)  YADAPP SUMMER CONFERENCE: Make sure you turn in your interest forms to Mrs. Wade in Room 39 AAP. We are excited to have the money for 3 teams this year!!! SDHS YADAPP is also celebrating one of our greatest successes! Courtney Walton was a Winner in the Moose Lodge Youth Awareness Program and has won a scholarship of $1,500 She will be heading to Williamsburg as a semifinalist to compete for up to $12,000!! CONGRATULATIONS, COURTNEY!!

7)  ATTENTION STUDENTS: If you are planning to go on the FBLA Field Trip, your money and permission form is due to Mr. DeWitt by THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 25!!

8)  Students will not be allowed to charge in the cafeteria after April 4. All charges must be taken care of by May 6.

9)  CONGRATULATIONS to the top sellers of the Sophomore Yankee Candle fundraiser: Alex Carter, Sade Woodson, Haili Halterman and Brennan Mays. The top homerooms were Mrs. Pettrey’s with $859 in sales and Mr. Burtner’s with $819 in sales. Both homerooms will get donuts and juice on Friday!

10)  Any member of next year’s NHS who might be interested in being an officer needs to see Mrs. Amador or Mrs. Grimm.

1)  GOOD LUCK to Boys Tennis, Varsity Baseball, Varsity Softball and Boys Soccer as they travel to Fort Defiance today. Girls Tennis, JV Baseball, JV Softball and Girls soccer will be taking on Fort here at the Draft. GOOD LUCK!!!

SCHOOL COUNSELING:

DID YOU KNOW THE SDHS COUNSELING DEPARTMENT NOW HAS THEIR OWN TWITTER ACCOUNT? PLEASE FOLLOW THEM FOR IMPORTANT REMINDERS AND INFORMATION @SDHSGuidance!

1)  The Waynesboro Family YMCA is now hiring for their 2016 summer camp. You must be at least 16 years of age to apply. Pick up an application in guidance and make sure to apply before March 25.

2)  For those students interested in the Volunteer Program at Augusta Health, the forms finally came in. Please stop by the Counseling Office first chance you get and pick up a packet!

COLLEGE VISITS:

All college visits are held during Cougar Return and is open for all Juniors & Seniors. This is an excellent opportunity for all interested students to meet with College Admissions Counselors and get a first hand account of what the school is looking for in an application and what programs are offered. Students must get a pass from Mrs. Halterman PRIOR to the day of the visit!

DETENTION Begins at 3:20 and runs until 4:00 pm No Detention on Mondays and Fridays.

1)  Detention will be with Mrs. Stullenburg in Room 28 on Thursday.
