Post Title :Curriculum Support Technician

Summary of the Post

To provide technician support to teachers and other related staff in the Department

Main Duties

  • Ensure the provision of a clean, safe, high-quality facility at all times
  • Carry out regular and daily inspections of facilities and equipment, ensuring they are well-maintained, safe and fit for purpose. Where this is not the case arrange for the repairs and monitor the process, liaising with the Programme Manager wherenecessary
  • Prepare and clear teaching and workshop areas, setting-up and dismantling equipment to ensure that lessons / bookings commence and finish on time
  • Oversee and manage recording of accidents and incidents in accordance with Departmental and College procedures
  • Ensure safety testing and calibration checks are carried out on all workshop equipment, produce and review the risk assessments for all activities that take place within the Department
  • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure stock levels are in place
  • Work alongside the team and under the direction of the Programme Manager to maintain all internal and external facilities and equipment
  • Responsibility for the generation of all equipment and resource orders as requested by Department Managers
  • Promote good working relations with the students
  • Work with teaching staff to facilitate learning in the workshop environment as required
  • The postholder will engage in work development and implementation of College Quality systems consistent with their role and responsibilities
  • The postholder will be expected to undertake all duties in line with the Barnsley College Health and Safety policy

Department Specific Duties

  • Ensure correct PPE is worn by all students and staff in designated areas
  • Oversee and manage recording of accidents and incidents in accordance with Departmental and College procedures
  • Support the teaching staff in the delivery of lessons as appropriate

Method of Working
