Memory Walk Press Office Assistant

This is an outline of what your role with the Society may involve. You will have the opportunity to discuss this in more detail.

Where, when and how often?
This role is based at our central office near St Katharine’s Dock, London.
For this role we would suggest a minimum of 2-3 days a week, for a minimum of 6 weeks, but more flexibility is available. Normal working hours would be 9 to 5.
How does the role make a difference?
In this role you will work within a busy and award-winning team and will help raise awareness by keeping dementia in the headlines.
You will support our team with Memory Walk. Memory Walks are the charity’s flagship fundraising event; they take place throughout autumn and help raise funds to support people living with dementia and their carers.
What will I be doing?
• Assisting with all aspects of PR for Memory Walk around the country
• Monitoring and evaluating regional and national news
• Liaising with media volunteers and spokespeople, and setting up interviews with journalists
• Adding journalist and case study contacts to our databases
• Overseeing a specific project as outlined by manager
• Assisting with other press office projects as and when required
• Attending and assisting with launches and events
Is this role for me?
The role may be ideal for you if you are:
•Interested in working within PR and/or media
•A strong communicator
•Comfortable talking to a range of different people
•Computer literate and able to use standard software such as Microsoft Office
•Reliable, punctual and able to meet deadlines
•Passionate about improving the lives of people with dementia
What do I have to do before I can start?
We will meet with selected applicants to discuss the role further, and will require two references from any successful applicant.
How will I be supported during my volunteering?
You will be supported by Memory Walk Press Officer.
We will provide:
•Initial guidance and induction to the role
•On-going support and training as required including software training
•Regular information regarding Alzheimer’s Society activities
Agreed out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with Society policy.
