Fairmount Primary Center

Parent Involvement Policy

2015-16

Fairmount Primary Center is committed to academic excellence for all students. We realize that parents are a vital component of school success. When a student first begins to struggle, the Title I/MTSSteachers will be notified and begin to intervene with that child as soon as possible (MTSS). We will strive to communicate important information about programs, progress, assessment and curriculum in a timely manner to all parents of children in the Title I program and welcome parent support.

Fairmount Primary Center will provide its parents with a description of the Title I curriculum and timely information on the program through the Fairmount Primary Center’s Fact Pack that is distributed to all incoming Kindergarten and new to the school parents with addendums made on a yearly basis. In addition this information will be posted on the Highlands School District website with the name and email address of the contact person at the school and within the school district. A letter will also be sent home with a follow up phone call. Current information will be posted on the Highlands School District Web site. Parents may be invited to either view or participate in a Title I parent education session where reading strategies are being demonstrated/modeled, when deemed appropriate.

Title I parents will be provided with opportunities to attend PAC meetings that are scheduled in advance and placed on the Highlands School District calendar which is mailed out to all families within the community prior to the start of the school year. This information is also accessible via the district website. A district-wide informational session is held at the beginning of the school year (October) each year.

Title I parents will be able to get a response to their suggestions and concerns in a timely fashion through notes to the teacher, emails, phone calls, agendas and other means that foster open lines of communication between the home and school.

Fairmount Primary Center will provide Title I parents with School Performance Profiles through the Highlands School District Quarterly Newsletter. This information will also be placed on the district website and shared at a PTA meeting during the school year.

Fairmount Primary Center will provide its Title I parents with their child’s individual NWEA (MAP) assessment results in a timely fashion through a letter and student report being mailed home which lists a contact person if there is a question on interpreting the results. In addition a Principal’s Coffee will be held for all parents who would like to attend in order to find out how to interpret the results in relationship to their own child. The school guidance counselor and other staff members will be in attendance at this meeting.

The spending of the Parent Involvement allocation will be decided by the PAC members and may include reasonable and necessary expenses associated with parent involvement activities, including transportation, childcare or home visit expenses to enable parents to participate in school related meetings and training sessions.
