VACANCY – DEPUTY CLERK

Anstey Parish Council are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and reliable person to carry out the duties of Deputy Clerk for the Parish Council

Candidates should have excellent IT skills, good interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a team as well as work on their own. Previous experience in the public sector and in a small office environment would be helpful, although not essential and training where required will be provided.

The Parish is responsible for open spaces, play parks, recreational land, a village cemetery a closed church yard, public toilets and a scout building. Daily tasks include answering queries from the public either by phone, email or visitors. The job holder will need to understand the management of the cemetery and the Jubilee Hall bookings system.

Inputting of finance invoices, weekly banking and monthly bank reconciliations onto the councils financial system will form part of the duties to be covered. Preparation of financial reports for Council. Attendance at all evening meetings of the Council is a requirement of the post to take the minutes.

The role will cover the Council Events Committee including issuing agendas, taking minutes, attending the meeting and carrying out the decisions of this Committee.

In future the management of the new allotment site at Groby Road will be a task of the job holder.

Flexibility of working will be required to cover village events, evening meetings and holiday cover and occasional weekend work. The work is primarily office based at the Jubilee Hall but also involves a limited amount of travelling and outdoor liaison work.

This part time role is for 20 hours per week the hours of work are subject to agreement. Additional hours and pay for attendance at all meetings of the Council, these take place predominately on a Tuesday evening. The salary scale is NJC 18 – 22 £18,070 - £20,661 pro rata £9.39 - £10.74 per hour
