*CALL TO WORSHIP (Responsively)

One: We gather to worship God who alone can heal us and make us whole.

All: Open our hearts that you may transform our lives with your healing touch.

One: We gather to serve God, who through us would heal and make whole a wounded creation.

All: Open our lives that you may use us in your holy and saving purposes.

*CALL TO CONFESSION

*CONFESSION OF SIN (In Unison)

Loving Father, when things go well with us we readily proclaim your faithfulness and our confidence in you. But we confess we easily entertain doubt when we are in pain, when we pray for help and healing and you are seemingly silent. Even in our times of wholeness, we confess we at times overlook the cries and needs of those around us, who suffer when we do not. Bring us such forgiveness and wholeness that keeps us close to you when hard times would pull us away – or when times of ease might tempt us into apathy or false senses of well-being. Give us grace not only to trust your compassion and purposes, but by your Spirit to be their agents as well. In Jesus Christ. Amen.

COMMUNION SERVICE

Luke the Evangelist records that on the evening of the first day of the week, the same day on which our Lord rose from the dead, when he was at the table with two of the disciples, he took bread and blessed and broke it, and gave it to them, and their eyes were opened, and they knew him. Beloved, this is the joyful feast of the people of God. Come from the East and the West, and from the North and the South, and gather about the table of the Lord.

BEHOLD HOW GOOD AND PLEASANT IT IS WHEN BROTHERS DWELL IN UNITY.

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. AMEN.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

Lift up your hearts.

WE LIFT THEM TO THE LORD.

Let us give thanks to the Lord God.

IT IS MEET AND RIGHT SO TO DO.

We give thanks to you, O holy Lord, almighty and everlasting God, for the universe which you have created, for the heavens and the earth, and for every living thing. We thank you that you have formed us in your image and made us for yourself. We bless you that when we rebelled against you, you did not forsake us, but delivered us from bondage and revealed your righteous will and steadfast love by the law and the prophets.

Above all, we thank you for the gift of your Son, the Redeemer of all people, who was born of Mary, lived on earth in obedience to you, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead in victory, who rules over us, Lord above all, prays for us continually and will come again in triumph.

We thank you for your Holy Spirit and for your holy church, for the means of grace and for the promise of eternal life. With patriarchs and prophets, apostles and martyrs, with your church on earth and with all the company of heaven, we magnify and praise you, we worship and adore you, O Lord Most Holy:

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD GOD OF SABOATH, HEAVEN AND EARTH ARE FULL, ARE FULL OF THE MAJESTY OF THY GLORY, HOSANNA, HOSANNA, HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST! BLESSED IS HE THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, HOSANNA, HOSANNA, HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST!

We thank you that the Lord Jesus on the night he was betrayed took bread, and, when he had given thanks, broke it and said, “Take, eat, this is my body which is broken for you;” and that he also took the cup, saying, “Drink of it, all of you; this is the new covenant in my blood. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Obeying the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ, we, your people, offer you this bread and this cup, recalling his incarnate life, his atoning death, his resurrection and ascension until he comes.

Bless and sanctify by your Holy Spirit both us and these your gifts of bread and wine, that in this holy communion of the body and blood of Christ, we may be made one with him and he with us, and that we may remain faithful members of his body until we feast with him in your heavenly kingdom.

HERE WE OFFER OURSELVES IN OBEDIENCE TO YOU, THROUGH THE PERFECT OFFERING OF YOUR SON JESUS CHRIST, GIVING YOU THANKS THAT YOU CALLED US TO BE A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, YOUR OWN PEOPLE; AND TO YOU, O FATHER, AS TO THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT BE ASCRIBED BLESSING AND HONOR AND GLORY AND POWER FOREVER AND EVER. AMEN.

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD

The bread which we break is the communion of the body of Christ.

THE POURING OF THE WINE

The cup of blessing which we bless is the communion of the blood of Christ.

Come, for all things are now ready.

THE COMMUNION

Let us give thanks.

ALMIGHTY AND ETERNAL GOD, YOU HAVE FED US WITH THE HOLY COMMUNION OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF YOUR SON, OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST; WE THANK YOU FOR THIS GIFT BY WHICH YOU ASSURE US THAT WE ARE MEMBERS OF THE MYSTICAL BODY OF YOUR SON AND HEIRS THROUGH HOPE OF YOUR EVERLASTING KINGDOM. SO ASSIST US BY YOUR HOLY SPIRIT THAT WE MAY GROW DAILY IN KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR TRUTH AND IN FAITHFULNESS TO YOUR WILL, ABIDING IN THAT FELLOWSHIP IN WHICH ALL YOUR SAINTS HAVE PART; THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD, TO WHOM WITH YOU AND THE HOLY SPIRIT BE ALL HONOR AND GLORY, WORLD WITHOUT END. AMEN.
