AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE MOTHERPAULINE FELDER OF CHARLESTON COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that MotherPauline Felder of McClellanville will celebrate her one hundredth birthday surrounded by loved ones and friends on April 30, 2016; and
Whereas, born on April 29, 1916, in the early part of the twentieth century, she has witnessed many of the remarkable social changes, technological advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe from that time into the second decade of the twentyfirst century; and
Whereas, the daughter of Harrison and Lottie McGinnis, Pauline made her arrival in the Palmetto State in the Moss Swamp section of McClellanville; and
Whereas, early in life she lost her vision and became totally blind, an occurrence that did not limit her joy nor deter her from being a devoted church worker and a talented singer. She traveled many miles from church to church singing the inspiring songs of Zion, most especially, her favorite, “One Day at a Time,” andshe faithfully attends St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church in McClellanville; and
Whereas, Mrs. Felder was married to her beloved husband, Clarence Felder, for over sixty years, and although she did not have any biological children, she served as amother to many in her community, like the brave heroine and judge of the Bible, Deborah, who without any recorded children in the Scriptures, “arose amother in Israel”; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her one hundredth birthday and join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
Thatthe members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mother Pauline Felder of Charleston County on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and continued health and happiness.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mother Pauline Felder.
