JOB DESCRIPTION

WSFA AND UNDER 18 EDUCATION WELFARE OFFICER

  • The post holder must be a practicing teacher or a retired teacher of a practicing lecturer in Further Education or a retired lecturer in Further Education.
  • The post holder must have a current Enhanced CRB/DBS Disclosure.
  • Member of the WSFA International Department.
  • Consult with the Head of International Department & Manager Under 18 International Squad, coaching and the medical staff on all player welfare issues.
  • To ensure all staff abide by the WSFA Welfare Policy and WSFA Codes of Conduct.
  • To submit a written report to the Head of International Department & Manager Under 18 International Squad and the WSFA Chief Executive regarding details of :-

a) Injuries, disciplinary breaches and all related welfare matters.

b) To collect and submit all injury reports immediately for home fixtures and within three days of return from an away fixture.

  • Accompany players to hospital in the event of serious injury.
  • Whenever possible gain parental consent before any emergency surgical procedures.
  • Notify and liaise with parents of all issues relating to the well being of their child.
  • Liaise with schools, colleges and or club regarding the study programmes for players and supervise when the players are undertaking their work.
  • Contribute to the psychological and emotional preparation of players prior to a game.
  • Supervise players during breaks, rest periods and transfers during travel to fixtures.
  • Attend WSFA AGM, Council Meetings and Officer Meetings. (About eight meetings per year).
  • In conjunction with the Head of International Department & Manager Under 18 International Squad prepare a written report for all of the above meetings.
  • Attend all WSFA Inter Association Semi Finals, WSFA Inter Association Finals, WSFA Inter School Finals, WSFA Disability Finals and the WSFA Tom Yeoman Shield end of season festival.
  • Check and monitor WSFA Officer’s and Under 18 International Department staff’s CRB/DBS Enhanced Disclosure Forms. (Use Form WEL005).
  • Act as Verification Officer for WSFA Officer CRB/DBS forms.
  • Monitor Association and other Organisation Forms GEN012. Collate submissions and forward them to the FAW. Liase with the Head of Competitions Department and the Head of the Domestic Department on this subject. Chase up Associations and Organisations who have not submitted GEN012 documents.
