Monday / We are opening our very first role play area ‘The café’ today.
Children will be using many mathematical skills throughout their Aistear time in the cafe. Each table plays in the role play area once a week, so the cafe will be open daily during play time 11.20 - 11
Maths activities. With Sylvia’s class Time 10.40 / We are enjoying lots of maths activities during the week.
Monday-Friday
Tangrams - make animals using tangrams.
Orchard Toys Board games:
Ten Green Bottles - counting game between 1-10 (numerals and regular dots)
Spotty Dogs - Counting game - counting irregular spots between 1-6. Counting onwards from 1 to 20.
Shape snap/farm animal snap

Tuesday / In our lovely café we will be learning;
One to one correspondance: Setting the tables, handing out menu's,giving out food orders.
Simple computations: Have we enough money to order food, how to calculate the bill, pay for the bill (using 1c coins for now !!) / We will also be playing the Counting game from 1 to 6 (resources: die, buttons, six cups, number cards 1-6). Roll the dice and count out the corresponding number of buttons into the corresponding cup.
