Financial Hardship ??

TJFC is an FACharter Standard Community Club, which aims to provide football for all children within our community at an affordable cost - often at a fraction of the amount charged by other local clubs.

Membership fees are payable annually, but we do allow monthly payments via Direct Debit to spread the cost over the playing season. We are not a registered charity, but we do aim to assist our members should they face financial hardship - and will support their continued membership through the use of bursaries in exceptional circumstances.

It is a difficult balancing act, as we believe it is unfair on the majority of our members if some fail to pay when they can afford to. As such, we need to satisfy ourselves that financial hardship does actually exist - rather than simply allowing non payment by default.

Over 70% of our members have authorisedpayment by monthly DD but, where financial hardship does exist, this method may not be in their best interests as their Bank will charge more in “admin” than the actual monthly DD payment. As such, TJFC will cancel any existing DD Mandate if

  • 2 consecutive monthly DD’s are returned unpaid or
  • The DD authorisation is cancelled by the member.

Where members authorise payment by monthly DD, we would expect them to take corrective action if their bank fails to pay the DD when it falls due, and to advise their manager immediately should they decide to cancel future payments.

Once TJFC cancels your monthly DD, membership will automatically lapse, and your child will be unable to play until corrective action has been taken.

In such cases, corrective action is your responsibility.

If you decide to re-instate your DD, you will need to re-authorise online via If not, then the full annual membership fee plus £30 for your initial kit should be paid by cash or cheque to allow continued membership. Cheques should be made payable to Tonbridge Junior FC, and sent to 7 Beecham Road, Tonbridge, Kent, TN10 4ED

Please remember that TJFC is run by volunteers, who are not expected to chase non-payment.

If financial hardship does exist, please email Alison Roberts (our Welfare Officer) in confidence atwho will contact you to discuss alternatives.
