ABB ADDS NITRATE MONITORING

TO ITS ON-LINE OPTICAL ANALYSER RANGE

Extending further its application of Ultra Violet Light sensing technology to environmental quality monitoring, ABB has added to its range of optical analysers a new series for continuous on-line nitrate measurements in potable and waste water treatment plants.

The new ABB 7330 Series Nitrate Analyser is a straight-through system requiring no consumable reagents or pump tubes, thus minimising the cost of ownership. It is intended for use on potable water treatment plants for determining the quality of the final treated water, for blending high and low nitrate waters, for borehole waters containing high nitrates, for river waters and for monitoring discharges from municipal waste water treatment plants.

Advanced features for optimum performance and cost-savings include automatic on-line diagnostics for maintaining measurement integrity and automatic compensation for turbidity and organics which eliminates the need for expensive, maintenance-prone sample filtration facilities.

The new analyser also incorporates ABB’s unique automatic optical cleaning facility which can be frequency-programmed to accommodate particularly difficult monitoring conditions, thus minimising the need for manual intervention.

The ABB 7330 UV Nitrate Analyser comes with two programmable alarms as standard and calibration is a simple procedure needing to be carried out only at three-monthly intervals. The instrument is protected to IP65 and has a lamp life of up to 10 years.

ABB ( serves customers in manufacturing, process and consumer industries, the utilities and the oil, gas and petrochemicals sector. Over 160,000 people are employed in more than 100 countries.
