New Volunteering Opportunities
Opportunities offered by - Brook Advice Centre
Education Volunteers:-Supporting our teams to deliver sex and relationship education programmes for Young People in schools, colleges, youth groups and other settings.
LGBT Group Development Volunteer:-Supporting our LGBT Group Leader to run our weeklyLBGT group for young people in Blackburn. You will also play a keyrole in supporting the development of LGBTinclusion across our services.
Social Media Development Volunteer:-A Volunteer is needed to develop our local media presence in Blackburn. You will be creating and sharing posts on our Twitterand Facebook accounts to engage with a diverse audience to publicise our work.
Youth Involvement Development Volunteer:-Supporting the development of youth voice in our services. You will be responsible co-facilitating our "Did you get what you came for?" feedback system, co-facilitating our service user forums, and developing relevant displays in our clinic.
Opportunity offered by - Advocacy Focus
Advocacy Support Volunteer:-We are looking for two volunteers to do one full day per week each or two morning and two afternoons on a rota basis.
Volunteers will provide support to a variety of people who use our service via phone, email and digital platforms. This role will include adding service users to our electronic systems and maintaining these through data inputting and providing general administrative duties.
Full training for the role and opportunities for further training and development within the organisation will be offered to the successful candidate. You will be offered supervision and support from our Volunteer Manager and will be invited to attend staff and volunteer team meetings. Due to the nature of the work we do and the range of individuals we support, we are also keen to hear from applicants with lived experience of Health and Social Care issues, inclusive of mental health challenges and disabilities.

Volunteer Walking Group Assistant:-We are looking for volunteers to help out on our new walking group, to make sure the walks are friendly, safe and enjoyable.
If you want to help people in your local community to get active and healthy, and to have fun, then we could have the perfect opportunity for you.
We are looking for people who have an enthusiasm for walking and its benefits, and can share this with others. We are also looking for people who are friendly, welcoming and have good communication skills. You will also need to be reliable, punctual, honest and well-organised. An ability to drive the mini bus would be a fantastic extra but is not essential.
This is an excellent opportunity to meet new people and help others to get active and get walking. It will also enable you to develop your skills further, meet new people, discover more of your local area and be more physically active yourself.
Full induction will be provided and relevant training and development opportunities are available.
Ongoing support will be provided by the Team Manager.
Opportunities Offered by - Blackburn Youth Darts Academy
Sports Coach:-Volunteers are needed for a minimum of 2 hours.
We are looking for numerous volunteers which have numerous skills which can be advantageous to the Academy. We require volunteers to assist on our Saturday 3.45pm - 5.45pm coaching sessions by helping to mark players scores on the board, managing a small group of youths and completing a small amount of paperwork, ensure code of conduct is adhered to and children are behaving in accordance to our policies and procedures, encourage members and have a positive outlook.
Youth Worker:-We require volunteers to assist on our Saturday 3.45pm - 5.45pm coaching sessions by helping to mark players scores on the board, managing a small group of youths and completing a small amount of paperwork, ensure code of conduct is adhered to and children are behaving in accordance to our policies and procedures, encourage members and have a positive outlook. Sell raffle tickets, communicate with parents and promote the academy.
On occasions we will require volunteers to attend trips and events out of town which will include travelling on a coach or mini bus to national competitions or academies. These will be full day events however do not occur too often and when they do lunch and travel will be provided.
Also:- First Aider / Health and Safety Volunteer, Fundraiser and Marketing and Promotion volunteers are required by Blackburn Youth Darts Academy mainly on Saturdays but occasionally on Sunday.

The Blackburn summer lunchbox is a food distribution project which will be run over the summer holidays to kerb Blackburn Holiday hunger. Providing a packed lunch for children on free school meals to collect from a local collection point within the community.
We are looking for sandwich makers, lunch box packers and people who can give just an hour a day Monday to Friday over the 6 week holidays between 7.30 -8.30am - Monday 24th July 2017 to Friday August 25th 2017
No skills required just a positive attitude and a heart to make a difference and help Blackburn make a mark to curb holiday hunger.

Support Group Co-Facilitator:-To support and empower people affected by bipolar, by co-facilitating a regular peer-support group. Co-facilitators volunteer within a small team to ensure people attending Support Groups can share experiences and support each other. Facilitation is about enabling a group of people to have an inclusive discussion.
The role involves Supporting and co-facilitating a regular Bipolar UK Support Group, through listening, empathy and shared experience, Regular attendance at the group. The majority of Bipolar UK groups meet monthly. Compliance with Bipolar UK policies and procedures, as described in the Support Group manual, including guidelines on confidentiality and boundaries. Ensuring group paperwork is up to date. Attendance at relevant co-facilitator training. Communicating regularly with the Bipolar UK Development team. Using your skills & experience to help others affected by bipolar. Being part of a team. Developing your confidence. Increasing your knowledge of living with and managing bipolar. Developingorganisational and facilitation skills.
We are looking for volunteers who have:-
Personal experience of bipolar (e.g. a diagnosis of bipolar or a family member or friend). Empathy and understanding of the needs of others. Good active listening, interpersonal and communication skills. Awareness of their own wellbeing, and are able to seek support when needed. The ability to volunteer within a team. Commitment to the principles and values of Bipolar UK and Bipolar UK Support Groups.

Jeff Stelling Photographer:-This summer, Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling will once again set out on Jeff’s Men United March, with the aim to walk 15 marathons in 15 days, walking 400 miles and visiting 40 football clubs. Jeff will be leaving Blackburn FC on Saturday 10th June We need a photographer to help us with a variety of candid and posed photos to showcase Jeff, his friends, colleagues and football supporters through their journey. The opportunity is for 3 – 4 hours.
Skills required:- Camera owner and happy to take responsibility for this this at the events I attend Background or professional interest in photography, Able to work remotely with little supervision, I have good time management skills, I have an interest in walking

Helping individuals decide what to do next. Providing encouragement, guidance and support in finding a new job. Helping individuals achieve specific goals. Developing individuals skills needed to achieve greater independence. Signposting individuals to access information and advice relating to their action plan.
Volunteer Support Worker for Vintage Furniture Restoration Project:-THOMAS Vintage Furniture Restoration Project is an Asset Based Community Development Social Enterprise whereby people in early recovery from Substance Misuse restore furniture that is donated by the local community in order to give purpose, direction and learn new skills. We are looking for a number of volunteers that can help support those in early recovery from Substance Misuse and also be involved in the restoration of furniture.
Volunteer Support Worker for our Recovery Houses:-THOMAS provides supported tenancies services in Blackburn with Darwen for those people who are recovering from Substance Misuse issues. Support includes a structured living programme which incorporates an ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) approach and encourages service users to actively engage in their recovery. Residency usually ranges from 90 days to 12 months. We are looking for a number of volunteers that can help support those in early recovery from Substance Misuse and also take an active part in their Housing Issues.
Volunteer Group Co-facilitator:-THOMAS also works in partnership with CGL Inspire and delivers their Foundations of Recovery Group Programme. Volunteers help and support the facilitator in the delivery of the group:

Volunteer Food Assistant:-The THOMAS Drop-in is a thriving community . We are volunteer run and have a team of volunteers Mon-Fri that provide a hot nutritional meal to a multitude of people from diverse backgrounds.Volunteers will assist in the running of our busy Food Kitchen Drop In
Key tasks:
To assist and serve customers.
To prepare and serve food items and beverages.
To monitor and record hot and cold food temperature levels.
