3. Training / Qualifications and Competencies
The table below illustrates the criteria a provider must meet before they can deliver the listed services. Pharmacists/counter staff must be able to satisfy the criteria below and submit evidence to demonstrate competency. For more information please refer to the individual Service Specification documents for each service on PharmOutcomes.
Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) Service
A copy of all documentation MUST be retained within the pharmacy and be available for inspection.
Documents must be dated within the last 2 years. This includes locums/temporary staff where applicable.
Requirement / How to complete /evidence competencyPatient Group Direction (PGD)
Complete the relevant PGD(s) / Sign, date and retain copy within the pharmacy. This may be requested during site visit for verification.

CPPE Training /competency requirements
Complete all relevant CPPE modules relating to the provision of this service / CPPE website www.cppe.ac.uk
A copy of the CPPE Certificate should retained within the pharmacy and be available for inspection during site visits.
In the event that there is no Responsible Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician available due to staffing changes, the Pharmacy must have a policy in place for another member of Staff to deliver the service and this policy is visible within the Pharmacy.
(Newly accredited pharmacists) Attendance at a CPPE training event (relevant to service area) / CPPE website www.cppe.ac.uk . Book yourself onto an event

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Check
/ Complete Disclosure. Retain copy within pharmacy for inspection upon request/site visits.
Annual staff declaration form / Complete and submit an annual declaration to the Service Commissioner (Bolton Council ) detailing the names/designations/ contract service areas they deal with. This register must include locums/temporary staff if they are involved in delivering contracted service.
IMPORTANT: There is an expectation that this information will be kept up to date throughout the year. Evidence of competencies will be checked during site visits.
Uploading of data/claims / All claims must be made via PharmOutcomes. PharmOutcomes reports are produced on the 6th of each month therefore claims should be processed by the end of each month (31st). Data must be uploaded to PharmOutcomes within 2 weeks of seeing the service user. Pharmacies MUST retain copies of any forms completed with service users, for verification purposes. Any discrepancies will be investigated and service may be suspended whilst investigations take place.
Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea Screening & Treatment Services

Undertake on-site training from RUClear / RUClear service to deliver on-site training (CMFT) Relevant to all staff who deliver the service.

Training/competency requirements
Level 1
Stop Smoking Voucher Scheme – Supply Only / No training required but must be delivered by a pharmacist or qualified medicines counter assistant.
Level 2
NRT Support and Supply / All staff must complete the NCSCT training online (within 8 weeks of signing the contract)
All staff must and attend a yearly update session provided by Bolton Stop Smoking Service.
Level 3 and 4
Champix supply only via PGD/ Champix support and supply /
All staff must attend a yearly update session provided by Bolton Stop Smoking Service
All staff must complete the CPPE declaration of competency

Mandatory training – Harm Reduction Service / Staff, must attend on-going mandatory training provided by the Commissioners and Harm Reduction Service. Training will be provided throughout the year, within and outside of the Pharmacy and it is expected that the Pharmacy Staff will engage with all aspects of training.
