Disabled Residents’ questionnaire concerning the services delivered by Rother District Council.

Rother District Council is reviewing the impact of its services on disabled people living in the area. This is in response to the new Disability Equality Duty; it is essential to gather the views directly from disabled people about the Council’s services.

Please read following before completing the questionnaire and returning it to Rother District Council by 14th February 2007.

How will the questionnaire be carried out?

Two methods will be used:

  1. A Questionnaire on the website (attached)
  2. A letter including the questionnaire sent to individuals, who have volunteered to take part in this process

Who should fill it in? Am I covered by the term “ Disabled”?

This questionnaire is to find out the experiences of disabled people who live in the area served by Rother District Council, to help us shape our services to meet their needs.

Our definition for disability covers everyone who has come across barriers in their daily lives because of:

  • Mobility
  • Sensory impairments
  • Hearing impairments
  • Learning disabilities
  • Disfigurement
  • HIV /Aids
  • Mental health issues
  • Long term illness
  • Chronic illness or condition resulting in disability e.g. Cancer

All these people are encouraged to take part in this questionnaire.

What will happen after the questionnaire is completed?

The results of the questionnaire will be analysed and the key issues raised will be discussed further in our Equality Steering Group and there will be a representative for disabled people attending. The experience and views of all disabled people participating in the survey will then be drawn together into the basis of Rother District Council’s Disability Equality Scheme and Action Plan.
