HOUSE PARTY PHONE SCRIPT
Hi ______, my name is ______and I’m helping coordinate house parties for Kentuckians for the Commonwealth. I was given your name as a potential house party host. Are you familiar with house party fundraisers and how they are structured. (the answer is usually no)
What we ask of each host is that they send out 120 invitations with the intention of having 40 people show up at your home. We find that about 1/3 of the people that you invite will actually show up. It’s also very important to keep in mind that we are trying to reach all of the citizens of the commonwealth and inform them about the work of KFTC and that becomes a lot more do-able when we can do it 40 people or more at a time rather than 10-15 people at a time.
Our financial goal at each party is to raise $1,000. If you have 40 people at your home that averages out to $25 a person, which is not too much to ask of someone on such an important issue.
An equally important goal is to recruit approximately 10-12 volunteers to sign up for a shift or two between now and November. These volunteer opportunities range from phone banking to walking door-to-door to helping out in the office with mailings or other organizational tasks. Wherever a person feels like they can fit into the organization we are able to use them.
In addition, we hope to find 1-2 people at each house party that are willing to hold their own party so that we are able to reach as many people as possible throughout the state, educating them on the important issues that KFTC advocates for in the General Assembly.
Does this sound like something you would be interested in doing?
IF YES – Great! The first step then would be for us to send you a house party kit! We’ve developed a packet of materials that will walk you through the house party process step by step and answer many of the initial questions you may have. I can send the kit to you through e-mail or normal mail whichever is best for you. Can I get your address and e-mail? (Then mark whichever way the kit needs to be sent; but try to write down both address and e-mail for our records)
Next, we ask that you start thinking about a date that might work for your party. We like to give hosts 3-4 weeks from the time they set the date before the actual party. This gives you enough time to work up your invitation list and to make sure that you have all of the addresses you need, etc… Once you set a date we’ll send you the invitation package which includes pre-printed invitations, insert cards containing your personal information, and remittance envelopes to include within each invitation you send out, that way if people can’t attend the party but still want to contribute to the campaign they are able to do so.
I will go ahead and get the house party kit out to you and I will follow up with you after you’ve had a few days to think about a date so that we can get your party on the calendar. How does that sound to you? (Awesome, woo-hoo!!!)
Great….I’ll follow up with you in a few days then. Thanks so much for agreeing to hold a party for KFTC.
